Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

Petition for everyone to start using "convergent evolution" instead of "plagiarism" when Kpop idols do things that look similar
I'm really enjoying the Taemin/Lay convergent evolution thing that seems to be going on

I like how this piece broadens beyond “puriteens” and “metoo” discourse into issues of self-surveillance and identity.

The modern internet has made us see ourselves from the outside rather than experiencing ourselves from the inside

Once again, there is an ACLU petition specifically made to stop Mastercard from unlawfully policing adult content. It’s getting pretty grim for us out there. Please sign and/or spread the word.

Mastercard: Sex Work is Work. End Your Unjust Policy.
Mastercard's new policy unfairly targets the adult content industry, making sex workers more vulnerable, especially Black trans women. It must be stopped.

Bluesky has made it easier to add alt text, but some still struggle with HOW to write alt text. Sighted users who don't rely on alt text might feel overwhelmed. They might have questions on what details to include, or how to get started. This post from Veronica Lewis is a great resource.

while I’m thinking about trees: annual PSA that if you add mulch to your yard, scrape it back from base of tree trunks! Tell your neighbors! If you see it in your local shopping center or wherever, join me in being the weirdo scraping the mulch back lol it will slowly kill them :(

all i can say is that if an artist you like has a zine or something you've been eyeing up but always talk yourself out of buying, now's the time to get it. in a time of rapid digital decay and looming widespread censorship, certain physical artefacts are terribly, irreplaceably precious

A few years ago, reddit user RadioRunner decided to put together his own art curriculum that covered pretty much all the fundamentals and then some, without the pain of paying for art school. It's now a fully fledged website. There is no excuse.

There are so many good threads on alt text.

This is a really straight-forward introduction.
But also, never forget, if you're posting a screenshot of text (eg a magazine or website page) that also needs alt text and many apps enable you to copy-paste the text directly.

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

Easy protein sources when you’re struggling:
-frozen edamame beans
-throwing tofu in your instant ramen
-pre-shredded rotisserie chicken (you can find it at most grocery stores)
Listen to me y’all: Always fit a protein into your depression meals.

ALWAYS

Plant-based, animal, idc. Your brain NEEDS protein to deal with what you are dealing with

If you are dealing with triggers & traumas, put a protein in all your meals to reduce the cortisol (stress hormone) in your body

when Tracy Chapman sang "crying on the doorsteps of those armies of salvation" she was drawing a line straight from the Starvation Army's days of union busting anf the contempt with which they treat the poor.
I know it's a tad early but I know those bitches with the buckets will be out soon. Don't gove them a penny. The volunteers may not know but the salvation army is no ally and actively combative and harmful to many queer minorities especially during the holiday season
