The Em Dash Responds to the AI Allegations
“In recent months, a curious fixation has emerged in corners of academia: the em dash. More specifically, the apparent moral panic around how it is...

As a librarian, I’m constantly encouraging people to do this! Public and academic libraries have many fantastic things, like magazines in Hoopla or foreign TV shows in Kanopy. Please ask your librarians about how to get the stuff you want—or ask us to buy it for you! (The worst we’ll do is say no.)
i am BEGGING you before you pop off about paywalls to go to your local library's website and scroll through their digital resources. mine gives me access to NYT, WSJ, WaPo and if its linked with PressReader or a similar app, all the news magazines, sports, fashion, hobby etc.

FOR FREE.

Before our Free Andry fundraiser this Friday in DC, we’re going to get loud and mad on the steps of the Supreme Court at 5PM with @votesaveamerica.crooked.com.

This injustice is an attack on the entire LGBTQ+ community and the right to seek refuge.

The library is the only place that Americans experience the fullness of what it means to remove goods from the market. It pings our consciousness. Hey we could love differently!
Internet friends, I understand if you are green with envy at me for attending this great talk last night!

"Who's afraid of libraries?" was the rhetorical opener and I loved the point (among many) that libraries are where things are free. "a CVS looks really weird after you've been to the library."
A rainy Monday night. A rusty writer/speaker. A full house. An enthusiastic discussion.

I left with a bottle of brown.

Thank you, Durham Public Library, all the Tre-yonce fans, and #LibraryFest25.

We need to make Andry Romero a household name. There should be pressure to bring him and others back every single day.

But we need to focus the public’s attention on a single victim - a story that is repeated over and over so few can say they haven’t heard of him. That’s what MAGA does.

Andry.
Tonight we learned that it was indeed Andry, the gay man sent to El Salvador because of his “mom” and “dad” tattoos, who an American journalist saw sobbing as guards slapped him repeatedly and shaved his head.

He is an innocent. And Trump sent him to a torture prison.

Bring them back!
