There should be a constitutional mechanism for removing a president. Not impeachment, something that actually works, maybe like a catapult

Aren't we sick of this shit yet, America?
Armed ICE agents trapped US citizens in a restaurant and demanded their papers. Federal agents walked into East African restaurants in Cedar-Riverside, MN. They closed and blocked the doors. Then they demanded to see everyone’s papers. Every person present was a US citizen.

Trump’s second administration is like a rewrite of All in the Family in which a reactionary bigot from queens who basically wants to be liked by the people he meets is instead influenced by his wife Ann Coulter (not the lovely Edith) and his child Nick Fuentes & his live in “friend” Stephen Miller.

One of the neat things about this moment in time is that you no longer need to take people's quotes out of context to make them look like idiots.
One of the few quotes I've read that is as totally idiotic yet on brand both out of context and in context.
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

Hmmm...
I guess we'll see about whether this can get 218 in the House. If it doesn't, and the Senate still won't vote for the House's clean CR, then the shutdown continues...but it becomes a *House* - a GOP House - shutdown.

The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.
