When Bari Weiss wrote about the national crisis of “woke private schools,” all of her sources were anonymous students, parents, and teachers who agreed with her premise—and she ran the story without getting a school on the record, for “context.”

ICE agents illegally break into a woman's bathroom in a NY nutrition bar manufacturing plant. "Pull up your pants," says a male agent. The agents only had a warrant to review employer documents. They didn't have a warrant to search for, detain, or arrest anyone there.

I can think of no one more qualified to carry Backbar forward than Sarah and Andy of Field & Vine.
Somerville's Backbar is a cocktail institution full of geeky fun (tons of Star Wars stuff, and more!). It's under new ownership (the Field & Vine team!) but the nerdiness, inclusivity, and awesomeness will continue. My latest for @bostonmagazine.bsky.social: www.bostonmagazine.com/restaurants/...

I highly recommend watching this segment, not just because the CBS News execs and the White House didn’t want you to, but because these men were tortured and they deserved to have their voices heard.
!! Here’s a link to full video of the 60 Minutes segment that Bari Weiss killed last minute, via @jasonparis.bsky.social:

Looking for the truth about what it was like inside CECOT?

Earlier this year, we spoke to the men the Trump administration deported to El Salvador. Hear about what they endured, in their own words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8INs141xeQ

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, one agency is tasked with ideas for commemorative coins. Instead of addressing the country’s racial history, the five coins will feature former presidents and a Pilgrim couple.
U.S. anniversary coins won’t feature any Black Americans or notable women

there is nothing there at all except a rapacious, all-consuming need for praise, no humanity at all, nothing but a carnival barker's ability to work the crowd
Virginia Heffernan wrote this shortly after the 2016 election and it still holds true
