History underlines how common it is for diseases to make the leap from animals to humans, and for new pathogens to impact human populations for various reasons.
I think people resort to conspiracy theories of lab leaks and bioweapons because they simply cannot accept being that vulnerable to nature.

the least shocking thing in the epstein files that wont get enough attention. police regularly arrest and charge victims to coerce them into participating, often jailing them in conditions that are worse.
jesus the Palm Beach Police really sought arrest warrants against underage Epstein victims for coming forward and cooperating, and (purported) admitting to crimes, and it caused the victims to become uncooperative with the federal investigation

This tracks with my experience. DHS made up stories like this in Chicago, too. Every story ICE told about being attacked by community members was debunked in court. To assume anything they say is even potentially credible is irresponsible and out of touch with reality.
Re: the ICE actions in south Minneapolis Monday. DHS said "rioters" attacked officers with rocks and pepper spray. Note: I received lots of evidence and didn't see any rocks, the only pepper spray I saw was ICE agents sometimes spraying each other. I did see snow and possibly ice being thrown. (1)

This is likely going to get me yelled at or at least grumbled about again but lots of young people were not told the truth about PhD programs over the past 2 decades. There wasn't an honest accounting that most of them were not going to get tenure track jobs even if they really wanted them.

My family stopped over on the weekend on their way back from San Diego (death in the family) and now we are all very sick. If this is the flu that we’ve been warned about (we all had our shots) it is no joke, people. We are not sure who gave it to whom, and not sure it matters at this point. 🤧😷🥴
