part of why we are driving ICE absolutely mad is that we are using tactics that do not really permit them to legally arrest us. they cannot operate the way they want to operate when we have eyes on them.

they want to be a secret police and we simply will not let them be secret

Kristi Noem and her department’s latest attempt to mislead the American public regarding the brutal and unjustified killing of Alex Pretti is deeply shameful, and she must be impeached and removed from office immediately.

This is one of the things that I find is most shocking to people outside Minnesota who don’t realize it yet—the scale at which everyone who isn’t white has been forced into a spectrum of hiding.

Very good article drawing out the Tahrir Square comparison.

At our block's vigil last night we upheld them. I know others did/do.

We had artists who made name plates for everyone killed by ICE this year to put at Renee's memorial.

Their names aren't unsaid, but they're certainly not echoing as loud.

& all of us will be better served to uplift them.
People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.

People are dying in our concentration camps, on our streets and abroad because of Trump.

It’s been over 80 years and the world hasn’t forgotten what Germany did.

The world won’t forget what the US is doing. This is a historical humanitarian crisis .

And a lot of people on US soil already had more generational trauma than they had room for.

Certainly isn’t room for more but here we are, fucking up everything and everyone again.

If Trump has accomplished anything of great magnitude, it is the destruction of our trust.

Our trust in our media.
Our trust in our neighbor.
Our trust in our family.
Our trust in government.
Our trust in our country.

All assaulted by this monster.

All that we are enduring will cause generational trauma even if we could magically end it all and fix everything they broke this very moment.

Many Americans will take the trauma of these years with us all the way to the grave.

Someone must answer for that.

Are you kidding me? This is the NYTimes editorial board's closing graf. In an editorial titled "The Trump Administration is Lying to Our Faces," their grand moral conclusion is that they will not believe their own eyes until a federal investigation says they can. Craven, self-righteous cowards.

This was just me making this comparison yesterday, but today the Korean news is calling Minnesota "America's Gwangju" and have human rights lawyers explaining how America is now living through the dictatorship Korea once had.
The Chun regime that my wife fought against in the 80s did the exact same thing. They needed a "crisis" that "only they could solve" to hoard more ill-gotten power, so they chose one city (Gwangju), declared its inhabitants enemies, sent trucks full of soldiers to violently attack and kill them.

I think @sarahjeong.bsky.social said it's because they devalue women's labor and a LOT of this Scary Logistics stuff comes from people who don't understand that basically all of the civic life they enjoy is created with the help of free labor, largely by women.
Tho I will say, in his defense, he's not the first person to be confused by how quickly the romance authors & readers can whip up finely tuned logistics out of nothing. 😂
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

And what is happening inside ICE detention centers? 404 Media also learned that the federal government claimed that the day after it was sued for allegedly abusing detainees at an ICE detention center, a “system crash” deleted nearly two weeks of surveillance footage from inside the facility.
ICE Says Critical Evidence In Abuse Case Was Lost In 'System Crash' a Day After It Was Sued
The government also said "we don't have resources" to retain all footage and that plaintiffs could supply "endless hard drives that we could save things to."

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum.

Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum.

Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum.

ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.
