JD Vance and Peter Thiel are running a sustained operation out of the White House designed to acquire Greenland, either voluntarily or by force. Thiel has laid out plans for what he intends to do with the island nation in past writings. It doesn't entail the consent of the Greenlanders for anything.

Huge moment in this interview with @frankdomenic.bsky.social.

NDP leadership candidate @avilewis.ca puts proportional representation on the national stage and makes it the non negotiable democratic reform we need.

When leadership contenders acknowledge the core issue, the national debate shifts.

Everything Danielle claims about puberty blockers and this issue is false. She's a liar kowtowing to her christo-fascist and petro-fascist "associates".

Pretty remarkable that Trump has installed someone on the Saudi dole — Jared Kushner collects millions in fees from the Saudis every year — in a key role for America's most sensitive and consequential foreign policy negotiations (Gaza, Ukraine), and it is largely TREATED AS A NON-STORY

"Ukraine must “enshrine in its constitution” a promise to never join NATO. Ukraine must shrink the size of its armed forces to 600,000, down from 900,000. Ukraine may not host foreign troops on its soil. Ukraine must hold new elections within 100 days, a demand not made of Russia, a dictatorship"
This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

I used to handle interlibrary loans for a public library. ILL is a magnificent expression of the idea that readers deserve books, and books deserve readers. It’s libraries everywhere pooling their resources for the benefit of everyone.

Killing IMLS could have killed ILL.

This is great news. 📚

It's been this way for decades!

The industry takes their talking points from the same mainstream techno-optimism that makes liberal leaders think we can somehow deal w 40gt of CO2 pollution every year while still using fossil fuels.

This is the language of climate politics all the way down.

1/2
As @doctorvive.bsky.social has pointed out a quadrillion times, it such a moment of significant and extreme alarm that fossi lfuel industry talking points are being shamelessly and bluntly repeated by people like this

Very, very, very grim
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.

We don’t need to reform ICE.
We don’t need alternatives to ICE.
We don’t need to engage in dishonest debates wondering what the U.S. would do without ICE.

ICE isn’t even 23 years old. Most adults know a world without ICE. And the billions used to fund ICE can be used to meet people’s basic needs.

So apparently you CAN get people to save money.
You just have to make the money cute.

Mexico made the mistake (debatable) of putting an axolotl on their 50 peso bill. Now its estimated something like 12.5 million in pesos are out of circulation, because people are refusing to part with the bill.
