unfortunately going to spend too much of this holiday season thinking about someone call the Pop-Tarts Bowl a "major platform" for the team that played for the national title last season

Would I have loved all of the silly body of Christ jokes about eating the anthropomorphized pop tart? yes.

But also, I totally get why they aren’t interested in extending this season to make more money for ESPN after this

…then told Iowa State and TCU he was going out for a pack of cigarettes and never came back.

Can I tell you about someone else who had a close relationship to God and joined a conference with 12 other members?
Stop the debate on Notre Dame joining a conference cause it clearly doesn’t matter.

aw man
10-2 Notre Dame announces it will not accept a bowl bid after missing the playoff.

Efforts to reform the college football postseason are a lot like efforts to reform the American healthcare system. They are all doomed to fail if their first and foremost priority is to placate the useless parasitic middlemen who are the entire reason it’s bad in the first place.

Jen Lada:

Notre Dame players were leaving the facility "hanging their head, walking slowly, some of them having phone conversations, but all of them sort of in shock and disbelief."
ESPN's Jen Lada spoke with Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua.

Asked him about a bowl appearance and he tells her they haven't even thought of that.

I keep coming back to this:

Notre Dame's two losses were by a combined four points. Their most recent loss was on September 14th.

Alabama lost by 21 yesterday.

So Notre Dame is out because BYU lost? And now they're going to be playing in the pop tarts bowl? Well at least the playoff looks extremely uninteresting

Having to play regular season games
What will the SEC have to complain about now?

You can say in the end that head-to-head results mattered (Miami) and conference championships shouldn't hurt you (Alabama). That's good!

The problem is the previous several weeks of inconsistency and the twisting to try to explain it.

I think you can pretty easily make the argument Notre Dame was an elite team this year and could have had a legitimate title opportunity
What about ‘both teams are equally not great and they should just have 8 teams in the playoff so we don’t have to argue about which not elite team is less bad’ discourse?

the Committee drops Notre Dame out of the Playoff after their 28-7 loss in yesterday's conference championship game, but Alabama stays in the same spot after sitting idle yesterday

Miami in over Notre Dame has always been a fair take (if a silly process to get there), but I’d like an explanation of what Alabama has shown the last two weeks to improve their resume vs. Notre Dame
Alabama played terribly yesterday, made their résumé worse, and didn't fall. Notre Dame didn't play, saw their résumé get slightly better, and fell.

The head-to-head mattering because they punished BYU getting blown out in their conference title game but not punishing Alabama in their conference title game is what's going to kill the committee.
