Not a day goes by when I don't think of that @darthbluesky.bsky.social post that too many of these guys think this is a little anomaly and any day now they'll be back to having Seersucker Suit Day and Congressional softball games.
SCOOP: Schumer was more involved than reported with the attempted cave on the government shutdown. The Gang of 8 Senate Dems had his approval & he was getting daily updates.
In Thursday's caucus meeting, the Gang claimed they had 10 votes to cave. The caucus went nuts, leading to the new proposal.

It can feel overwhelming because the United States is a *really* big country. You look around and it feels like they're everywhere. But they aren't. A few million of these racist assholes is a fraction of this country. There are so many more of us than there are of them.
It's been a long year, a sad year, a despairing year, but I do feel better after these past few days of learning beyond a shadow of any doubt that almost everybody hates these motherfuckers, wishes them nothing but the worst, and wants to see them fail.

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.
