While attempting to buy winter boots, I am reminded of the weirdest job search ever. Buckle up: it’s a wild ride. It was my last year of grad school, and I had an interview for what I thought was my dream job. It was an open rank search where they were hoping to hire two people. +

The 'kin' of ‘napkin’ means "little."

‘Nap’ comes from ‘nape,' which means “tablecloth.”

So a napkin is a little tablecloth.

If the only job available is thuggery, some choose thuggery. Some choose homelessness and starvation. Yes, we're responsible for our choices. We can also understand context.
We’ve found it, folks, the ultimate form of fetishism of American oppression. Poor Americans simply have no choice but to become fascist thugs, for the benefits.
that choice was made in a system that provides few jobs that pay well with benefits, respect & opportunity to those who don't hale from society's "upper crust."

How many would choose to work at ICE or the military if they had better job opportunities that didn't require them to mete out torture?

Guy in the Epstein Files wonders why everybody’s so mean.
Why have Americans become so mean, sad, and alienated? The answer is simple, @nytdavidbrooks argues. People no longer grow up learning how to be decent to one another: bit.ly/4qskLny

DOGE and Elon Musk's Libertarian Fever Dream

Can the US govt be more efficient? Sure, says Prof. Lindsay McCormack, but that's not what DOGE was about.

DOGE was part of Trump's "ungoverning" strategy to break the "administrative state."
