This is the other thing: the demand that the left (by which they mean women and feminists) be nicer to men does not actually reflect what radicalized men are getting on the right. It’s certainly not kindness! It’s merely affirmation of their entitlement to dominate.

This is, again, the influence of right-wing propaganda. "Men aren't allowed to flirt with women anymore!" is a universal truism in male-dominated spaces and something I've never heard a straight woman say.
I don't think it's true, for instance, that asking women out in person (instead of through the extremely hierarchical and often exclusionary world of dating apps) actually became socially anathema in the late 2010s. But I think a lot of young men started to *believe* that it was.
I don't think defensive reactions like this are helpful, frankly. We're going to have to grapple with the fact that this is the way a lot of young men raised by the manosphere feel, and then figure out what to do about it. Saying "your feelings are wrong" isn't going to change a blessed thing.
