In an unlikely turn of events, I managed to convince the voting members of the UPC technical committee to accept my proposal, reversing the limits imposed on circuit venting. This will likely trickle down to California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Minnesota, Maine, Austin, Houston, and more.

One of my more controversial opinions is that the US needs to significantly raise taxes to the tune of a couple % of GDP right now, even before any expansive social democratic reforms, and that means you—yes you, dear highly educated professional—will need to pay up, not just nebulous billionaires.

I hate that we’re having to think in these terms, but the evidence seems to be bearing out that steep fare hikes are less damaging to ridership than service cuts.
2025 was brutal for US transit. Agencies faced budget deficits, flat ridership, and open hostility from the White House.

I wrote a series of stories outlining ways to help transit endure.

Lesson #1: Whatever you do, don’t cut service. Riders will leave – permanently.

Here are a few others 🧵
The Last Thing US Transit Agencies Should Do Now
Rising costs and widening deficits as pandemic aid runs out are challenging bus and train operators in many cities. But cutting service needs to be a last resort.

Who could argue with this?

Tuberville's comment is fucking insane for lots of reasons, but it's especially insane in light of the Muslim man who naturalized in Australia three years ago and who quite famously and recently took five bullets to protect Jews celebrating at the beach. There's no appeasing white nationalists!
It’s unwise to respond to every dumb ass bigoted thing people say on the internet, but when a United States Senator — albeit the dumbest United States Senator — calls for denaturalization & deportation of an entire religion, you have to call it out as the evil it is.

Cars are so dangerous that parents who move their kids to the suburbs to avoid perceptions of urban crime increase their kid’s likelihood of dying a violent death by like 30 percent.
This happened in my city last week.

Since it seems like the entire world is obsessing over the potential dangers of teens riding ebikes lately, I feel like a reminder is in order: drivers are far and away the greatest threat to your kid and everyone else on the road, and always will be.

so, this right here? this is one of the absolutely most lawless, brazenly unconstitutional impeachable offenses ever committed by any president other than trump in the history of our country.

like, this is an open and shut case. and it's a case which targeted *republicans.*
This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

I don’t know how else to say it…

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.
