Retired, love Europe, baffled and worried by the nonsense happening everywhere.

Will someone please make it stop?

Entertaining as this spat is, it contains not-a-flicker of recognition as to WHY this might be happening.

For 16 months, a tax-exile-oligarch-owned, mostly right-wing press, has abused the privilege of these exclusive private sessions, to misrepresent the gov't on every issue. This is the FO stage.

Today is International Migrants Day.

The immigration debate has become increasingly toxic - so we asked the public what they think.

🧵 Is it a super flu year? Who knows, but I think the current reporting is stupid.

A pissed off thread using data.

Despite what you hear from fossil fuel-funded politicians, the U.K has just generated a record amount of clean, domestic wind energy.

Enough to power 23 million homes!

U.K decarbonisation policy is a recipe for energy security.

Insanity! We NEED these people to look after us and do the jobs our own populace refuse to do! 😠
New Home Office impact assessment finds that cutting skilled and social care visas will cost the UK up to £10 billion with a central estimate of -£5.4 billion.

It would be good if this got even a fraction of the coverage devoted to the endless debate about boats, flags and Turkish barber shops

One of my favourite questions of the series appears in tonight’s Only Connect - I’d better not tell you the whole thing, but it starts “A village in Norway, annually.”

And if you can get it from that, I’ll see you next series!

As a child (early 60s) EVERYONE got measles and many died or had lifelong damage from the complications. Our children had several vaccinations including ones that saved babies from being damaged in utero (rubella). Thanks to science. I despair of the ignorance of ppl 🤦🏼‍♀️
I’m from the generation that remembers when these diseases ran rampant. Perhaps we need to be reminded with a dose of repeated history
