New figures show that the homicide rate in London is now the lowest in it's recorded history- with an 11% drop in the last year.

This is thanks to the hard work of so many across London & the leadership shown by Sadiq Khan in leading with a tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime.

Reform are simply becoming a second home for Conservative Politicians.

Nigel Farage is filling his ranks with ex-Conservative Ministers while no doubt telling everyone that he will fix all the mistakes caused by these same politicians!

While critics talk London down, the facts tell another story: record-low murder rates and the fewest homicides of those under 25 this century.

Our strategy is working. But one death is too many, and we’ll keep investing in the police and young Londoners.

Worth thinking about with this bounce is whether assumptions about the irrelevance of PMQs/parliamentary set pieces on public opinion are wrong - and the mode of transmission - good PMQs -> commentariat --> public still matters (and may be strengthened by social media clips)
The number of Britons backing Kemi Badenoch against other leaders over who would make the better PM has increased significantly since last August

Badenoch 31% (+10 from 3-4 Aug 2025)
Farage 21% (-2)

Badenoch 28% (+8)
Starmer 28% (-2)

Badenoch 28% (+9)
Davey 25% (-1)

We're calling on the Scottish Government to introduce our mansion tax proposal in tomorrow's budget.

Nadhim Zahawi and family fled to the UK from Saddam Hussein's Iraq as a child refugee in 1978. Unable to speak English when he arrived, he became a hugely successful businessman and an MP before serving as Chancellor of the Exchequor.

His origin story is the very antithesis of the Reform narrative.

Nadim Zahawi arrived in the UK from Iraq as a child refugee. His family claimed asylum once they were here. Today he has joined Reform who will stop all in country asylum applications. Under his new party, his own family fleeing persecution would be immediately deported.

Feels too like there’s a serious danger for Reform in accepting too many Tory defections.

Hard to accuse the Conservatives of being the same old faces who screwed everything up in the first place when half of those faces are on your team now.
This feels like a sign of what I think might be another trend of this year - people giving up on saving the Conservatives and believing they can shape and/or politically profit from the Tories being subsumed into Reform.

A dominant theme of Hitler's speeches in the late 1930s is that Germany was surrounded by threats. These threats were imaginary: it was Nazi Germany that threatened other nations. But they were used to justify pre-emptive attacks. Trump is following this script.
