Screenshot from Politico: SPOTTED: Thune, Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso and other GOP pals dining last night at swanky Capitol Hill hotspot Bistro Cacao — where filet mignon and magret de canard go for $45 a head and the cabernet sauvignon list ranges from $60 to $750 a bottle, per Playbook’s Adam Wren. Fine dining on the first night of a government shutdown?

Canceling energy projects like this, including wind farms, is an immense waste of money.

Additionally, of course, it takes the US out of the technology competition.

Lose-lose.

"Energy dominance," you say?

As of this year, *China is exporting more clean-energy technology than the US is exporting the dirty stuff*.

The future is green energy & China, not the US, is set to dominate it.
China Is Beating the US in the Battle for Energy Export Dominance
China’s exports of clean energy technology hit a record in August, with $20 billion shipped globally.

Holy crap, y’all. mRNA tech not only cures (some) cancer. It might cure (some) vision loss. What’s next? Weight loss? Gray hair? Abolishing reality TV?

Golden Age of Science right now. And some folks want to kill it stone dead.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a new mRNA vaccine that has been shown to suppress abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina, offering hope to MILLIONS of patients with age-related vision loss. The vaccine triggered strong antibody responses that REDUCED retinal damage by UP TO 85%.

Cutting spending was always a pretext for dismembering the government while simultaneously hoovering up as many lucrative government contracts to Musk-owned companies.
bbkogan.bsky.social
Elon Musk said he was going to cut spending by $2 trillion dollars, but instead spending is higher this year than we thought it would be before Trump took office. Truly incredible stuff.

CBO fy2025 projections for deficit/spending/etc are out

We need to stand up together and speak up.

Microsoft shoved their AI Copilot into everything in Windows 11. Which lead to an increase in Windows 10 use. So they announced they'd stop support for Windows 10, but its usage was still strong. So they started to put Copilot into Windows 10.

Windows 7 use is surging 5x now.

Not just now, not just this directed harm by the Klandministration.

Folks marched about this my whole life.

Feel free to attribute the following to a former OMB General Counsel: The supposed "new legal analysis" is, to use a technical legal term, horseshit. What the law actually says is that when Congress enacts a law ending a lapse, furloughed employees get paid at the earliest date possible. Period.
atrupar.com
Johnson: "It's true that in previous shutdowns, many or most furloughed employees have been paid for the time they were furloughed, but there is new legal analysis - I don't know the details, I just saw a headline - but there are some legal analysts saying that might not be appropriate or necessary"
