Amazon’s AI ‘Banana Fish’ Dubs Are Hilariously, Inexcusably Bad
Amazon is experimenting with AI dubs on anime and other projects, and what it has done with Banana Fish is downright disgraceful.

every neoliberal policy analyst wants to "trim the fat" of society until the lean times come. community level resilience, redundancies, etc are good actually
When power went out across all of Puerto Rico on 16 April, a lot of the lights in the town of Adjuntas stayed on. A combination of experimental microgrids, solar panels, and storage kept power on for many businesses and residents.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the past 18 months really working to, if you will, kill the neoliberal in my head. as someone with my politics, I’ve been surprised by how much there’s still been to excise.

anyway, maybe productivity and efficiency are scams, and redundancy protects human happiness.

They're not hiding it, folks—straight up neo-Nazi advertising, from the font to the language to the 11 stars for the Confederacy. Then you have the DHS openly using white nationalist language of "remigrate", which means ethnic cleansing.

This is who MAGA is now.

The issue is not who the two survivors were affiliated with, but their status at the moment force was used. Under the laws of armed conflict, status of mortality and status of incapacitation determine whether a person is a lawful target.

FREELANCER TIP: THE 25% RULE!

The MOMENT payment hits your bank account, calculate 25% of the value of the invoice and then transfer that amount immediately to a savings account and DO NOT TOUCH IT. THAT'S FOR TAXES. Then pay yourself the remaining 75%. Account for this when determining rates!!!
Just calculated how much I will have to pay in self-employment taxes since I've never been a contract employee before and

Oh my god?????

This is awful?????

The US government finds a new way to devastate me every day 🫠

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

I expect people who have used their industry status to hurt other people to go the fuck away

Yet it seems to be a constant cycle of "hasn't the person who hurt people suffered enough? what more do you want?"

I want them to show actual fucking remorse, not fulfil a checklist of duties they made up.

I’m sorry, was “withdrawing America from the Geneva Convention Treaty” on the ballot in 2024?

Or did Congress vote on it during one of their rare days in session, & I completely missed it?

Because that’s a friggin big deal.
Let’s get the monkey of the Geneva Conventions off our backs! Yay lethality!

I'm flummoxed by the underground movement to rehab cancelled figures. There's a rumor that a studio head is planning to begin bringing cancelled people back. It's bananas. The industry has contracted, leaving writers, directors and actors scrambling for work and we're making space for sex criminals?

Per our organizers protesting OTG: the anti-ICE protestors held up ICE until the NYPD arrived, arrested demonstrators w/ almost no warning, & pushed people onto the street without provocation.

@Jessica Tisch: the NYPD is letting the Gestapo take New Yorkers hostage. Don’t help ICE - arrest them
“As the agents moved to exit their vehicles, protesters blocked them, forming a barricade at the mouth of the garage with their bodies and piling mounds of garbage bags beside them. The standoff continued for the better part of an hour as more and more protesters arrived.”
