“The numbers remain dismal. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University found earlier this year that even the best-performing AI agent, which was Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro at the time, failed to complete real-world office tasks 70 percent of the time.”

So it may work at least 30 percent of the time but you won’t know what 30 percent of the tasks it will get right until it does them, which means double-checking 100 percent of the tasks.

Teens are already getting around the teen social media ban by scanning their parents' faces or uploading their ID, after the government was warned that a third of parents were planning to help their kids dodge the minimum age.

Society is a construct. You can just ask someone to do a ska cover of Faith of the Heart and they'll say "$300 please" and you give it to them and then you have it.

Everyone, give

Cat is hitting on a very real point, here. Honestly, my gut instinct is that this is part of what happens when shame is outlawed as an acceptable emotion to feel

Tech doesn't *have* shame, and its workers are forbidden from feeling it. Ergo, anything shameful cannot be tech.

But DOGE is shameful!

People who are agog at the BoM website rebuild costing more than they expect should remember that every IT project goes well over budget, especially if a consultancy is involved. Public or private sector, it doesn't matter.

We all like freebies, but with little or no extra capacity expected to be added to V/Line trains over summer, services are likely to be packed.
V/Line travel is free on weekends this summer in Victoria but will you find a seat?
Victorians will benefit from free public transport on weekends this summer, but not all travellers are excited for the freebie.

There's a certain irony that for the West Gate Tunnel "Discovery Day" they discouraged people from driving to the event, and boosted public transport frequency. If only this type of thinking was in place when they consider building these big motorway projects in the first place. #Melbourne

Fun* fact: in Australia, over 87% of the people who have data exposed in a data breach do so because it was in the ~3 very large data breaches we have each year. (On average, since 2018)

BTW, I would really like @consumerreports.org to watch this video and perhaps start breathing down the necks of those big companies for forcing everyone into using pre-dosed products.

That's the opposite of pro-consumer, imo.
