Chronically unemployed California expat. Loves movies. Aspiring author.
Spoilers for No Other Choice. It is incredibly depressing how the movie starts with him ready to stand up for his employees being laid off but by the end of the movie he doesn’t even care that he’s managing an AI factory. Desperation makes you accept anything

Great movie. Probably felt more depressing than it should have since I’m unemployed lol.

At least I’m not suffering alone😭😭
NEW from me:

Job growth has been functionally zero over the last five months, as the US sinks from a “low hire, low fire” labor market to a “no hire” one.

That slowdown is hitting young & low income workers the hardest 🧵

it is both true that more training won’t fix the agency’s problems and also true that 47 days of training - picked corruptly and arbitrarily - is a scandal on it’s own that people should know about (i didn’t know this)
Chris Murphy: "The amount of training that's given to an ICE officer has been cut in half by this administration. The number of days of training they get are 47. You know why they get 47 days? As an homage to the vanity of POTUS. No wonder the number of violent incidents are going through the roof."

Jonathon Ross is not a new hire thug to ICE. He's an experience CBP officer - experienced enough to know how to place himself in a position where he could take a life and get away with it.

He may well get away with it. CBP/ICE as institutions cannot be allowed to

We Bury the Dead is pretty solid. Wasn’t really a fan of the part with the soldier but I liked the different take on zombies and the teeth grinding. Also morbidly funny that it’s all Americas fault, we really are becoming the worldwide baddie

40 people (at least) died. It's the official policy of these newsrooms that Latin American lives aren't worth anything. Again, if you still pay for an NYT subscription I think you're trash.
NEW: Plans for secret U.S. raid to capture Maduro leaked to the Washington Post and New York Times before it happened, but both decided not to publish to protect U.S. troops - Semafor

We were not at war with Venezuela, anyone who was killed is a murder. They should have published
(Semafor) - The New York Times and Washington Post learned of a secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin Friday night — but held off publishing what they knew to avoid endangering US troops ..

This statement is much better than Jeffries. Hope this becomes the standard Dem line

Every statement Jeffries makes is perfect for finessing the moment, & completely inadequate for the future. He says nothing wrong & in the same breath condemns his leadership, because it is *not enough* for our leaders to be narrowly correct on details. It has not been enough & it will not be enough
jeffries needs to be the fuck out of office

Perhaps now people will stop wishcasting about the US military refusing illegal orders. That's not a thing that happens. The 100% compliance rate with using civilian boats for target practice was a bit of a tell.

At this point, if a Democratic presidential candidate wants my vote, their platform has to - at bare minimum - include some version of "I am going to put all these freaks in prison for their crimes." Full stop. No compromise. I am now a single issue voter for the dark woke prison camps.

I cannot emphasize enough that the attempts to anthropomorphize an algorithm is a fundamental act of journalistic malpractice and an intentional act to shield the people responsible for this. It's fucking shameful.

Reuters quotes Grok here as if it’s a company statement. That just shouldn’t happen. It’s an outright error. Should I ask ChatGPT to write a statement on the issue on Reuters’ behalf?
