“Then they shouldn’t have voted for this!”

Bitch, Asheville is a blue college town and the county has gone blue for decades. I am so sick of this “if I pretend disasters only happen to red areas, it means I’m safe because I’m properly on the left!” No. You’re not safe. That’s why we save everybody.

Twice in my college Pascal class I showed up to find out when the test was. It was that day. Because I’d been programming since I was a sophomore in high school (just not in Pascal) I aced them both.
I ACTUALLY DID THIS IN REAL LIFE I forgot the time and date of my statistics final in college, probably because I never went to class, a friend in the dorm told me the final started an hour ago, I arrived late and utterly failed the final and the class as a whole, it was actually kind of magnificent
This is another version of the dream where you're back at college and you somehow keep forgetting to go to that one class and suddenly it's the final and you're screwed.

In 1994 a bug in Intel chips was discovered that caused ~1 in 9 billion floating point calculations to have small errors. Because of user outcry they spent $475 million ($1 billion in today $) replacing chips.

We don’t have to accept crap.
Can't wait for the loosened up, non-perfect, but quickly shipped AI-enhanced updates to hit my banking and insurance services next year.

Im sure there will be no issues there at all.

There was more good health news about the COVID-19 vaccine for infants, kids and adults in December. There’s still time to get the shot this winter.

Zuzu, from Its a wonderful life had a life that would put George Bailey's crises to shame. It's nice that she is happy to promote the message of the movie, and sad that her son didn't get to see it.

ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

remember to watch some version of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians to celebrate the holiday.

It's public domain so you can just watch it on wikipedia if you want, but I recommend the MST3K version or one of the other riffed versions:

Not every story needs to adhere to The Hero’s Journey template, which is not, in fact, universal, and the quality/value of a story shouldn’t be judged by how successfully it follows that template.
