I don’t think that coming up with lists of “good” authors helps anyone. on a very basic level: you have no way of knowing if that’s true about anyone.

When he had over 500 slaves, he bought houses that had burnt and the adjacent ones "because their owners would let go at a trifling price." He bought "the largest part of Rome" in this way,[8] buying them on the cheap and rebuilding them with slave labor.
The first ever Roman fire brigade was created by Crassus. Fires were almost a daily occurrence in Rome, and Crassus took advantage of the fact that Rome had no fire department, by creating his own brigade—500 men strong—which rushed to burning buildings at the first cry of alarm. Upon arriving at the scene, however, the firefighters did nothing while Crassus offered to buy the burning building from the distressed property owner, at a miserable price. If the owner agreed to sell the property, his men would put out the fire; if the owner refused, then they would simply let the structure burn to the ground. The number of times I've had people trying to tell me about all the supposed crime in New York City, a place where neither of us live anywhere near, is frankly ridiculous. And citing actual crime statistics does nothing to get them to change their minds because it's not based on anything but vibes.

Daily reminder that the underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.
Anyway, AI has already stolen friends’ work, and is going to put other people out of work.

This goes for indie music. If you listen to music by artists or bands who are independent/on small, independent labels, it’s so important that you share our stuff. We don’t got PR budget to plug our music into avenues that get in front of people. Word of mouth is powerful and necessary for indie art
It needs to be said over and over because it’s really important: if you read an indie novel/comic, play an indie game/visual novel, etc. and you enjoyed it, one of the best ways to help the creator is to tell people about it! Leave reviews, tell your friends. Every little bit helps us so much!
