Rosal DeLauro has been a good Democrat over the years. But at 82 she is yet another Democratic leader in Cong. who no longer fits the moment we are in. She should have mentored younger leaders and retired a long time ago.

Time is now- she needs to retires or get primaried out b/c this is not ok.
DeLauro to pressing clergy: 'I will not vote to abolish ICE'

To be clear, given the way she handled this, someone needs to consider a strong primary challenge. Her entire attitude is wrong. The things she likes that ICE does…can be assigned to other entities
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

I will move the entirety of my 401ks to whatever provider allows me to avoid exposure to this bag of hurt. Just give me an S&P-E fund and you can charge me 0.1%.
The tone of this article reads like the private equity industry trying to get access to 401(k)’s to dump their bags there:

The Trump era exposed how badly Congress erred over decades by granting the president emergency powers in certain situations while also making the president the one who decides when we’re in those situations.

ICE can’t mask except when ICE’s boss says it’s necessary? Repeating that same mistake.

Remember the incident where DHS claimed officers shot a guy because he attacked them with a snow shovel?

Yeah. It didn't happen. They shot him through the door of his own home. And then arrested him. And then lied about it. Again.

And they almost shot some kids in the process.
They just blindly shot through the fucking door.

"Additional photographs show damage consistent with a bullet fragment lodged in a bedroom wall down the hallway — suggesting it traveled between a mattress and a portable crib in a room where several small children sleep."
"Photographic evidence from the shooting scene of a Venezuelan man by federal agents last month in Minneapolis supports the account of witnesses there – and appears to undercut the narrative provided by federal officials." www.startribune.com/ice-raids-mi...

Local news is reporting that Le contracted with DOJ precisely because ICE is breaking the law so often and so seriously that DHS is being hammered with habeas petitions. Some people get what they deserve.
Not a DOJ attorney but a former ICE attorney who volunteered to help just a MONTH ago and is already having a nervous breakdown.

There are ethical considerations to quitting a case but it feels like begging the court to rule contempt because your client sucks does too.

DHS said that the woman CBP shot in the chest in Portland was “involved” in a gang shooting.

Her ~involvement~ was that suspected gang members sexually assaulted and robbed her.
After Border Patrol shot two people in Portland, DHS claimed they were "vicious gang members" tied to a past shooting.

But records I obtained reveal a US prosecutor has since directly contradicted DHS, saying, "We're not suggesting he is a gang member." My dive into how DHS' claims have collapsed:
DHS’s account of two Venezuelans shot by border patrol falls apart in court: ‘A smear campaign’
Immigration officials said agent shot two ‘vicious gang members’ in Portland, but records obtained by the Guardian reveal US prosecutor contradicted claims

it is especially jarring to see so many Illinois politicians finally responding in some way to ICE and CBP as if they did not spend all of fall here doing the exact same shit they're doing in MN. Makes you think about what would have happened if those same people had something to say at the time.

Carter: If this is not stopped, right here, right now, I don't think anyone who is seriously looking at this can have much faith in how our republic is going to go in the future.
