man i mailed something from *congress's* post office not long ago and it took like 2 days to leave the building
USPS quietly changed its postmark rules — mail is no longer dated when you drop it off. The “official” date is when it hits automated sorting — sometimes days later

Which could have major implications for mail in voting — it’s a clever way to disenfranchise voters that’s going largely overlooked

Back when I was a young Marxist, one of the old comrades in the Trotskyite party I was a member of told me he subscribed to two papers - the party paper and the FT. The latter, he said, was incentivised to tell the truth because it was the paper the boss class read and they wanted to be informed.

So grief really sucks (yes, you are tired of me grieving my father, welcome to the club, I am tired of having a dead dad), and I keep discovering new ways it is impacting me. I cannot write. I can give myself space, time and a good set up, but I simply cannot string words together to save my life.

1. Historically, eugenics was not a pseudoscience. It was *science* Almost every scientist, social scientist, academic, etc. believed in the validity of eugenics. You would have to search far & wide to find a scientist that didn't believe in some form of it. They taught it in college!

I was recently laid off by ARTnews, a few days before the theft at the Louvre. The terms of my TN work visa means I can't freelance unless I donate the funds to charity. I'm open to new FT roles in business reporting and communications, and am willing to relocate to other cities, including Toronto.

It's something that really worries about the online world. To carry out even fundamental life admin - maintaining a bank account, getting government services, protect yourself from crime, etc - you now need a level of literacy and numeracy that a third of the population just don't have.

because blue states do not fund the federal government. their citizens do. states have no causal power to defend the government whereas the government has the causal power to debit your account and send you to prison.
I’m seriously asking, yet again, if the federal government literally no longer abides by a separation of powers because Congress just doesn’t give a fuck anymore and instead Trump just dispenses money himself then WHY should blue states be funding any of this?

I counted up the number of ways (platforms, accounts, apps) that people in my professional and personal lives plus healthcare systems and kid’s school are contacting me and uhh. This is objectively impossible.
