Even more unimaginably, some of us don’t care if our neighbors (or ourselves) are American at all, much less anyone’s degree of more-or-less American-ness. We are all people. Citizens of the world, earthlings, etc. Nobody “belongs” anywhere because of paperwork. We choose to live in community.
They are shocked that we believe our immigrant and refugee neighbors are our neighbors, believe they are as American as I am and belong here in this state and our country.

He repeatedly said he was a US citizen, offered to show his passport, & asked for medical help. They loaded him into the back of a pickup truck. 930PST Saturday. 27th & Nicolet?
