But did we at least avoid dismantling core functions of the government when we let DOGE run amok? No.

But did we avoid killing millions of people by destroying USAID? Also no.

But did we at least avoid violating all the laws & the constitution by letting DOGE criminals run amok? Alas, also no.
Total federal spending is up +7% in 2025 over 2024 year-to-date to Oct 20.

The story that the fed govt is tightening its belt is contradicted by its own real-time expenditure data. Admin spectacularly hammering some things but raising spending elsewhere.

Was -7% just after Inauguration Day.

Nothing that any elected Democrat has ever said about Republican voters is ever as crass or as cruel as what Trump says about Democratic constituencies every single day, and the media just treats it as background noise.

the degree of sheer incompetence that pervades this administration is remarkable, and incredibly dangerous.
Per message shared w/ me:
The State Department just notified certain staff they are to work during the shutdown because their job is "necessary for emergencies involving the safety of human life" or "essential to national security"

Except…some people who got this were laid off weeks ago in the RIF!

I’m going to agree with quack doctor here. Get the able bodied people on Medicaid outside so they can’t watch crap tv like this all day.
Dr Oz on Newsmax: "On average, the able-bodied individual on Medicaid watches 6.1 hours of television -- that's a lot of your show -- plus they sit around."

Most people I think immediately recall that Dylan Roof was given Burger King.

I recall that he sat with a group of Black church people , who prayed with and for him, before he murdered them.

He didn't just walk in and spray and pray. He sat with them, talked with them.

Then murdered them...
KAMLAGER-DOVE: Dylan Roof, who followed white supremacist propaganda, murdered 9 Black parishioners in 2015. Do you deny this?

PATEL: I'm sorry. Dylan Roof? Can you give me more information?

People supporting this administration are always playing the victim and are never willing to accept responsibility. It’s beyond exhausting. Grow up, get your poop in a pile, and start behaving like an adult.
In some ways Ham-Face is the perfect Trump voter: all his decisions blow up in his face but the explanation is always, you don't understand, the radical leftist Joe Biden made us mad.

I’m not shocked to learn that Republicans give Trump a 90% approval rating. PSA to non-Republicans: for your safety, keep yourself and your family away from these folks.
These numbers are atrocious.

We now have a President who acts like a king & will spend at least the next 3.5 years (barring his death) ramming through incredibly unpopular & damaging policy, and there's very little anyone can do about it short of secession (which is an option, always an option)
Trump's cratering in polls continues. Crushing new Gallup numbers:

Overall approval: 37%
On immigration: 38%
On economy: 37%
On trade: 36:
Federal budget: 29%

Overall approval among independents: 29%

Great analogy. Like arsonists seeking cheap thrills, the administration is cutting science funding to bask in fleeting political theater without considering that the damage will last generations, if we are even ever able to recover from it.
If you burn down a forest, you don't miss out on lumber for just that season. You have to replant all the trees, nurture them, and wait for them to grow.

The science and research budget cuts happening now are wanton, senseless arson. Recovery, if it ever happens, will take generations.
