The new acting Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy — State’s top public diplomacy official:

1) not only denies the Uyghur genocide but appears to applaud it

2) says the US should sell out Taiwan to China for concessions in Antarctica (???)

Canada and Mexico are our friends and the mad king of our nation has turned on them and is hurting them in our name. We should be furious not just for what he’s doing to us but also to what he’s doing to them.

Also I think the fact that Trump has (at the moment of posting) actually done the tariffs after so many people tried to assert that it was bluster or a negotiating tactic or whatever, should make us all take pause and look more seriously at his territorial expansion threats again because - uh oh.
Look: its entirely possible Trump walks back this tariff stuff and declares victory (without gaining anything) in days - or even hours. But I think two things:

A.) Even if he does, he may just do this again - but worse.

B.) I think he just, really believes in tariffs now; that its magic money

I think Trump likes tariffs and believes they are a cheat code for free money and it's not clear he can be convinced out of using them
I think there is a small chance they pull the tariffs before they go into effect, but I think the promise of retaliation means Trump will dig in his heels

The notoriously conservative/anti-trudeau Canada subreddit is so incensed by the Trump tariffs that they're now celebrating Trudeau for his measures and speech
this sounds like a wartime address by Trudeau

Everyone has been talking about inflation, but I think the supply chain shocks will actually be what causes the most pain, and they will ripple.
Other capital goods manufacturers are going to have similar issues to auto OEMs. It’s a giant supply chain shock and going to cause significant price increases/shortages that will take a very long time to deal with in those sectors. Especially if companies can substitute to untariffed finished goods

agreed. just flat bar Tesla imports! ban all of Elon Musk's companies by name! they aren't key parts of any economy, even ours.
I think countries around the world should levy tariffs specifically on Tesla in response to US tariffs, as well as banning Twitter as a national security threat

driving a wedge between our co-dictators may be the most effective thing they can do
