Watching Ubisoft almost do something interesting and possibly profound only to press the abort button is equal parts disappointing, offensive, and infuriating.

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

This is a real tweet by the Florida AG.
**Alt text:**
A social media post by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier states that, as of October 1st, all Florida airports are closed to any weather modification activities. The post urges people to report violations of the new law at reportfloridaskies.com. Below the message are two airport notices. The first shows Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) closed to geoengineering and weather modification aircraft except with 48-hour prior permission. The second shows Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) closed to aircraft equipped with weather modification or geoengineering equipment except with 24-hour prior permission.

I try to bring you the latest on French politics on here, as longtime followers know... but the situation now is too bizarre to sum it up in 280 characters.

But basically, Macronist Prime Minister appointed 3 weeks & resigned abruptly on Monday is still resigning, & still no clarity on what's next.

This will go absolutely nowhere, but, I'm glad they're asking it, and I hope it gets coverage as part of DeSantis's ugly bloodlust execution spree.

If Florida kills Samuel Smithers next week, it will be the state's 14th execution this year — nearly 3 times more than the 5 carried out in Texas.
In the Supreme Court of the United States
SAMUEL LEE SMITHERS, JR.,
Petitioner,
v.
STATE OF FLORIDA,
Respondent.

PETITION FOR A WRIT OF CERTIORARI
CAPITAL CASE
DEATH WARRANT SIGNED
Execution Scheduled: October 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. ET CAPITAL CASE
QUESTION PRESENTED
1. Does the execution of the elderly violate the Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution's prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment based
on the evolved standards of decency?

But then you find out they had got there age verification data. Come to find out they got 1.5 TB of government id and age verification data. This is going to become a case against age verification.

I understand why people *want* the police to intervene--normies are like, 'I thought cops are supposed to arrest people doing crimes, ICE is right there doing crimes, go do your thing'

but police organizations take nearly every opportunity to be like, 'oh you misunderstood what our thing is'

The current paradigm of "AI" encodes & recapitulates eugenicist, fascist, and generally bigoted tendencies— but previous paradigms did, too, & if these facts had been addressed, then, in the culture of technology specifically and our sociotechnical culture writ large, it might not still be like that
