Hello, new followers! I'm Lili; I write books, sometimes other people even read them.

This feed holds squirrel stories, the life of a working writer, Morning Walk Reports, random ephemera, and links to articles I find interesting, thought-provoking, or cool.

Nice to have you along.

quoting someone to complain about their replies being restricted isn't making a good case for opening replies, it's making a case for restricting quotes

It's interesting seeing the different ways resistance has formed in different cities. Los Angeles Organized, Chicago Radicalized, and Portland Got Weird as Fuck. All 3 have had success unifying their respective cities.

I guess my point is there are multiple paths to ungovernability.

The reason the Right are so invested in the myth that the arts have no value isn’t because the arts don’t generate wealth (they do); it’s that studying the arts teaches people to imagine better ways of judging the value of an idea than by counting how much money it makes…

Just golden retriever-level bewildered at how there's a good number of my fellow Americans who think Portland is an apocalyptic hellscape despite how the people who live there constantly assure them that nothing's on fire except the jugglers.

Speaking as a Birmingham native, Bessemer ain’t nothing but black folks — and I find it oh so interesting that black neighborhoods are where they keep shoving all these data centers
chadstanton.blacksky.app
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that all these data centers are going into communities that have been historically targeted for exploitation and have the least amount of civic power wielded by the people living there.

Why Are Plans for This Alabama Data Center So Hush-Hush?
Officials in Bessemer, Alabama, are mum on Project Marvel, a proposed data center the size of 18 Walmart Supercenters.

Data centers are receiving billions in state tax exemptions.

These centers, many owned by Big Tech giants, are driving up electric bills and sucking up huge amounts of water.

Baker & Taylor shutdown is similar to the collapse of Diamond, but for libraries.

Many are out thousands of dollars in undelivered books and must find new book distribution.

This means longer waits for new books and we approach having a monopoly for library book distribution.

You cannot - CANNOT - fix the New York Times or the Washington Post.

Can. Not.

Better to leave with dignity and chart a new course with the publicity from speaking out. Let them replace you with hacks and dipshits until the whole thing topples over.

It's better for all of us.

At first the Discord hack didn’t seem that bad because it was initially the third party help desk.

But then you find out they had got there age verification data. Come to find out they got 1.5 TB of government id and age verification data. This is going to become a case against age verification.
