This is the entire incentive structure of modern day media in one post. Like Henry Ford said you could get his cars in any color you wanted as long as it was black, you can have any ideology you want as a commentator as long as you’re anti-Dem.

Re: cameras, there is good data, including a recent study out this week, that does show while there is initial revenue generation it does go down over time because people speed less. So yes, there is an initial surge in revenue, but that falls as behavior changes.
When cameras are installed, they issue many violations in the first month, followed by a steep decline in the second month. This suggests that the cameras effectively deter speeding by changing underlying driver behavior rather than relying on sustained revenue extraction.

I think it was a huge mistake to make our society so car-dependent. But man. The Discourse today is a good reminder that when it comes to roadways policy, otherwise progressive anti-car people quickly become some of the most pro-carceral, anti-civil liberties people on the planet.

The people still hung up from the November CR vote seriously cannot think things through. When I saw the news, I didn't post any doomer/bad take about it in the heat of the moment. Instead, I took a step back to see where things settled, and it settled good for Dems, and badly for the r's.

Nope. I am glad dems were able to stop kids from starving, and got the repubs to vote against healthcare, and the current govt funding runs out in Jan but SNAP is funded through next year. So if govt shutsdown again in Jan at least kids won't starve.
You are obsessing over the minute language when the matter is the outcome. A run is scored the same whether it scores by a few singles or by home run.
