Finally got the last Clarkesworld Magazine subscription for the year and here's the line up.

What beautiful covers for a wonderful magazine. I can't wait to see what next year brings

I'm Elizabeth Dunaway, a weird SFF short story writer who reads a lot more than writes

I remember reading "The Dispossessed" By Ursula K Le Guin during an extremely rough time in my life and being so thoroughly moved that it inspired me to get back into writing after a period of stagnation
#SFFChat is here!

Intro: Introduce yourself and share a fond memory you have of the SFF community, or of writing/reading SFF.

We are pleased to report that a court has dismissed the terrorism charges against one of the RICO defendants in the #StopCopCity trial, citing the prosecutors' intentional delaying tactics.

Indeed—the entire case is simply judicial persecution. Throw out all the charges.

Listened to @margaret.bsky.social's wonderful episodes of Ricardo Flores Magón's fables on Cool Zone Media Bookclub. My personal favorite was "The Rifle."

@coolzonemedia.bsky.social is an amazing crew in general and y'all should give them a listen.

the people angry at this seem captured by the delusion that "immortality" would somehow trickle down to the masses. This ignores two key things:

1. Most tech oligarchs see "immortality" as uploading themselves to the cloud

2. They want to make themselves gods and don't desire your company
like 70% of the worst evil being perpetrated in the world right now is caused by rich men trying to avoid death. this is their underlying hope for AI, and genetic engineering.

if true immortality ever existed we would have a moral responsibility to murder the inventors and bomb their labs.
Acausal Robot God have mercy on my soul, I have backed up every piece of the claim:

“The goal of LessWrong rationality is so Eliezer Yudkowsky can live forever as an emulated human mind running as a process on the future superintelligent AI god computer.”

The Deep Ones - I’ve been always thinking about a deep sea Cephalopod theme and here it is! Tentacles and appendages are so different when it comes to arranging the composition so it took me a good while, and hopefully it ends up well! 🦑🐙They’re just like from another world💙

Now it has been eight years since anarchists and other anti-fascists assembled in Charlottesville to block the rise of a fascist street movement. Against all odds, they succeeded.

This is important to remember today, when we face a new threat on a much greater scale.

Charlottesville, Revisited—2017 to 2024
Seven years ago, anarchists and other anti-fascists converged in Charlottesville, Virginia to oppose the “Unite the Right” rally. A retrospective.

A bit late to this but Happy Book Lovers Day

What book I love the most is a hard question but if I was to just pick one, it would have to be Ursula K Le Guin's "The Dispossessed"

It has had one of the greatest influences on me as a writer and as a person

What "weapons" do you think can be found in transphobia? The only ones I see are aimed at the people I fight alongside of.

If you're willing to sacrifice the same people the fascists want to kill, how are you any different from them?

We don't win by throwing each other under the bus.

Odd question:

I'm planning on switching over from Google Docs to LibreOffice

But

LibreOffice automatically sets their document margins to 0.75" all around and I don't know how to change this other than doing it manually on each document

Any advice?

I’m glad people are seeing this cruelty. But we shouldn’t forget the people our border has killed, they get little more than a metal cross my friends make, a small cairn, a little plaque, and a space in the hearts of those of us who wanted better for them.

Border Patrol agents raided a Home Depot in Los Angeles today, kidnapping over a dozen people in what they called "Operation Trojan Horse."

They borrowed this tactic from Patriot Front, a neo-Nazi group that rents box trucks to transport its members to marches.

Now the fascists hold state power.
