"This doesn't affect you because you animate, so you are fine."

No. This sucks and this is really dangerous.

In solidarity with all artists, Please be cautious.

I know many will remain on Twitter because they have mostly everything here but be aware this time it's worse than the other times.
Heads up to artists still using Twitter- Twitter is now adding an "Edit image" button under all images posted on the site that allows everyone to feed it into genAI and modify it as they wish with a prompt

As it's a hot topic right now: We do not use any Gen AI or LLMs in any of our games & are not planning to.

So far its implementations have felt far from "necessary" & come with a myriad of ethical/environmental concerns.

But most importantly, we enjoy every step of the creative process without it.

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

Obviously, this is amazing BUT the thing I love most, is that it's directly poking fun at the desire/fetish to overanimate overlapping action & smears.

Asking someone of James Baxter's calibre to *intentionally* do this (as well as mess up the spacing on a bounce) is funny in the nerdiest way.

I *LOVE* how much reactivity Popful Mail packs into these generic raccoon guys! They raise their shields if approached head-on. They comically look around if Mail leaps overhead, wondering where she's gone. They recover and initiate attacks. They're vulnerable while confused. They're PERFECT

genAI doesn't FIND anything.

Also, there is a world beyond the internet. And that's where historians work. (it's called an archive where most of it isn't digitized or searchable if it is.)
While I want to agree on principle, I wonder if the issue is prompting? Would the AI have been able to find the nuggets you were looking for if it had been directed to do so? Or is it an issue of you not knowing the questions to ask until you've read the source material yourself?

It’s why we don’t believe in 1:1 comparisons between games, books, movies, etc. The real answer is that you should read more, play more, watch more, listen to more in general. For us, one of our great joys is experiencing as much as we can, across all mediums, in the short life we have.

Since it's the last #RandomGameSaturday I might as well get into the spirit. Christmas Nights into Dreams is a pretty neat release imo - while at it's core just a demo, not only does it feature Christmas theming that's quite nice but also offers some neat unlockables and time-based themes.

One of my greatest worries about climate was “countries will not trust each other enough to do this” but that’s actually become somewhat moot as renewables have become way preferable for many growing countries precisely /because/ they do not trust temperamental petrostates.
