It’s true. Canadian school children learn to scheme in both official languages.
“Global TV may have been merely careless … but since they are Canadian I would not rule out treachery”

If you need me these holidays i’ll be dreaming up dastardly schemes and twirling my movie-villain moustache

I'm sorry but any time you say that Israel's actions are "making" people antisemitic I just hear all the chuds from twenty years ago who swore that it was only because of 9/11 that they were now raging Islamophobes

No, Jews around the world don't suffer because of the actions of the government of Israel. Jews around the world suffer because antisemites use the actions of the government of Israel to justify attacks on Jews. And if you make the same association, you're also an antisemite.

OMG, I had not put this together. The climate change turning people into control freaks.
It’s mostly about the panic of unprecedented climate change. People want to feel in control. They’re controlling their bodies and trying to control others’ to compensate. But the list of vices grows every day and they’re getting more benign. I’ve seen people critiquing ice water (shucks the system).

Workers know this game well: Instacart’s algorithm does the same thing to their pay.

I am a bit skeptical. If your kid takes transit to school, you will still be buying a monthly pass (or if you're lucky, having it provided by OSTA). IMHO, transit to and from school should be part of our public education and my preference would be seeing OSTA & OC Transpo working together...
The City of #Ottawa is so close to establishing a Youth Pass for 18 and under residents, free at the point of service transit every day after 5pm, weekends, holidays and summers. It would begin July 1st 2026. Tomorrow, it can become a reality in this city for our youth. #Ottnews

Christmas is just the day after Réveillon.
My French-Canadian Grandpa’s birthday was also on the 24th, so we had that side of the family over and everyone went to Midnight Mass after. Once we were too old for Santa we’d open gifts after midnight mass and just sleep in Christmas Day.
On Christmas Eve (sometimes New Year's Eve) in many French-Canadian homes, there is the celebration of Réveillon.
Dating back centuries, what began as a dinner for nobles was adopted by families in Canada to celebrate the season.
This is the story.

Please, it's been a long, hard year and I do not need pickle-stuffed latkes, or chicken nugget latkes, or hot dog latkes. And I sure as hell do not need deep fried cauliflower masquerading as a latke.
(But I will continue to eat my latkes with cheddar cheese).

A reminder that Franklin is a book character from Canadian author Paulette Bourgeois and Canadian illustrator Brenda Clark.
As a Canadian, Franklin would only be able to enlist if he already had a Green Card (PR).
As a Canadian, he would have the right of return to Canada if deported from the US.

It's that time of year again. So here is my annual PSA... If you are making "Christmas Crack" aka Saltine Cracker Toffee, this season, it's much, much better with matzah as the base cracker. (Plain matzah, not egg matzah, definitely not whole wheat or spelt).

1. When it comes to Graham Platner, I don’t have skin in the game. I live in CT, not ME. The good people of that state will figure out for themselves whether he has the right stuff to be their next senator. Indeed, there’s a lot to sort through, including the story of his Nazi tattoo.
A Nazi tattoo can’t keep a good (white) man down
In asking for trust, Graham Platner isn’t invoking the solidarity of class.

A few years ago, someone said something very, very racist to a coworker during a large meeting. Everyone in the room was shocked, and then looked away embarrassed. I wasn't there, but the next day was having coffee with a guy who was, and he said, "I just wasn't prepared."
I’ve been thinking and it’s kind of exceptional that not a single person said “Hey now” after the piggy comment.
