2025 was a weird, liminal time for me, nestled between two major life moves, where it feels like I accomplished nothing yet everything has been set in motion for a huge adventure next year. Good or bad, 2026 is definitely going to be *interesting*!

Open up this picture fully.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

The next time someone tells you Coca-Cola invented modern Santa, you can lay one helluva WELL ACTUALLY on them.
One of the earliest-ever modern portrayals of Santa Claus features him gifting Union soldiers with a jumping-jack doll of Jefferson Davis dangling from a noose - as drawn by political cartoonist Thomas Nast.

Never forget the reason for the season.
That it’s so dark we hold a party to fight the depression. If that’s what you’re feeling you’re not broken, it’s why we’re doing all this.

Computer, please summarize everything PG Wodehouse ever wrote in ten seconds
rich dudes got freakier after butlers fell out of fashion, like say what you will about having domestic servants but clearly it was some sort of moderating force on old rich dudes having a fancy man follow you around saying shit like "oh dear sir, that wouldn't be very becoming"

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

Let’s be clear, most EBT users are white. The reason he’s specifically lying about “weaves” and we’ve seen so many AI fakes of Black women ranting about food stamps is they need to make BW the face EBT because they know many Americans don’t care if Black people suffer, and some actually wish for it.
ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program.

SEN. RON JOHNSON: That program needs to be dramatically reformed.

I feel like I say this every year but I really need people to hear it. Halloween is the best American holiday. Just kids outside welcomed into their world, marching around together, showing off their costumes to the elderly, parents meeting parents, neighbors catching up with neighbors.

I'm being subjected to AI music in the wild AND I HATE IT.

The lobby of my kid's dance school is playing one of those looping iazzy piano music videos on YouTube, and it doesn't sound *bad*, but there is NO STRUCTURE, there's no rhyme or reason to the chords. It makes my BRAIN ACHE.

This has to be the MOST cynical attempt to pretend individuals hold equal responsibility for climate change as corporations I've ever seen. I mean, who can say who's worse: tech billionaires draining earth's water and electricity for AI data centers or selfish people trying to breathe?
As somebody with asthma who uses inhalers - SHUT THE FUCK UP. THIS ARTICLE IS SHAMING PEOPLE WITH A CHRONIC CONDITION.

"Significantly" My ass. You know what else does? AI Data centers - corporations - cows - asphalt - THOUSANDS OF OTHERS THINGS THAT ARE NOT MEDICINE.

Fuck you - fuck you again.
Inhalers contribute significantly to global warming, study finds
Millions of Americans using inhalers for chronic lung diseases like asthma may be unknowingly contributing to global warming, according to new research.

A new paper by Nobel Prize-winning economist Claudia Goldin has found that countries where men take on more of the household labor and child care — in other words, those who buck traditionalism’s standards of the provider husband and homemaker wife — have higher fertility rates.
To raise fertility rates, it’s not women who need to step up — it’s men
New research found that countries where men do more housework and child care have higher fertility rates.
