Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

The university movie club had an anime-themed night, and they were showing Legend of the Overfiend. A friend and I decided to pregame with weed brownies. They tasted good but seemed ineffective, and soon the whole pan was gone. But they hit like Thor's hammer right as the opening credits rolled.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

So say farewell to that coreward moon
You never more will see
It's a brand new day
And there's steady pay
For you at Cloud City
Oh you'll miss the dirt
And the high winds hurt
And it'll give you vertigoes
But you'll be free, and just like me
An idiot I suppose
So come all you fine young sentients
Who've been beaten to the ground
This rimward life's no paradise
But it's better than lying down
Oh the clouds are pink
And the gas tanks stink
And there ain't no solid ground
But you'll be free, and just like me
An idiot I suppose

We dodged a bullet that the Trump Bible was so cheap and lazy a product. If he had hired some Claremont mutant to go through the text and cut out everything "woke" it would have created a genuine schism in Christianity. Millions would have preferred this evil version of the text to any other.
Still kind of dumbstruck by the lady who told the New York Times that Jesus healing a sick man on the Sabbath means it's cool to drone-strike shipwreck survivors

Rewatched Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) for the first time in a while and I think it may be a perfect movie. Sweaty atmospheric malevolence from beginning to end. Impeccable sound and editing. The most hideous set design in history. Provides exactly what it promises. An evil classic all around.
