Greta Thunberg arrested for holding a sign opposing genocide.

When peaceful protest is a crime, democracy is in deep trouble.

Happening under a Labour Government.
🚨BREAKING: GRETA THUNBERG ARRESTED UNDER TERRORISM ACT FOR SUPPORTING 'PALESTINE ACTION PRISONERS'

So in the UK, they'll arrest you for supporting Palestine, and now we find they'll also arrest you for supporting those who support Palestine.

If you hold a Free Greta sign, will they arrest you for supporting someone who supports those who support Palestine?

British Matryoshka doll-ass fascism.
Greta Thunberg has been arrested on terrorism charges for speaking out in support of the Palestine Action hunger strikers.

FUCK this British government.

People who call kids “bad” usually don’t know Fact One about child development. A lot—A LOT—of adults, despite their authority, want children to display more emotional maturity than they’ve ever modeled for them.
People complain that the kids are bad because we don't hit but kids will be kids and people way overdo the hitting

sex crimes actually being committed are of less importance to the press than the hypothetical sex crimes that might potentially occur if we afforded rights and respect to trans people, even though there's no evidence whatsoever to think that anything bad would occur at all.
The British Press caring so much for “women and girls” that they’ve covered up abuse by a yet another sex pest for decades…

…to make space for their transphobic moral panic

This is a great clip. Say no to the future they want.

But also actively build the future we want. Honestly, I think that's the part we're really struggling with. In the absence of our own vision to give us direction, we'll still get dragged along with whatever is happening.
"This promise of an AI future, is really just a collective anxiety that wealthy people have about how well they're gonna be able to control us in the future."

Incredible words.

Julia Hartley-Brewer: Why is colonialism bad?

Me: “When Britain arrived in 1700s, India had 27% of global GDP. After 200 years of theft and millions starved to death, by 1947 India had 3% of global GDP, 90% living below the poverty line, a literacy rate of 17% and life expectancy of 27”

this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about

Anyone who has ever met a writer (especially one with neurodivergent hyperfixations) knows that ideas are free. The tree of ideas is always laden, & there is too much windfall to eat.

Maybe pay thoughtful creative people a living wage to act on their ideas instead of letting the echoing box chirp.
This column on Vox is the biggest pile of steaming AI crap I've seen this year. Human's aren't running out of ideas. Instead, those with power and money don't want to listen to ideas that threaten their power and money.

Ideas are plentiful. Putting those ideas into action is the hard part.
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

informing people of this is a passion of mine (see bio)
one time on the old site i said that my husband, who was an entire 35 years old, had only recently discovered that ponies are not baby horses. the post was mid but i still fondly recall the thousands of replies of other full grown people making the same discovery
Does everyone have a personal favorite of their posts. Not the most popular, but the one that just always makes YOU smile?

I spoke in Parliament today to challenge the misinformation from those claiming this tribunal as a 'win' for the anti-trans agenda.

In fact it found Ms Peggie harassed a colleague for being trans, and it dismissed almost all her claims.

It also found that trans segregation is not supported in law.
We've written & published a short summary statement regarding the Sandie Peggie V NHS Fife Health Board employment tribunal case & the judgment given yesterday. Much of the media coverage has missed key information, the most important aspect being that all claims against Dr Beth Upton were dismissed
