I am sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Maher. Maher is from Gaza City and was displaced from his home and is now living with his wife, mother and brother in a tent. It is not properly secured for the winter and they are having a hard time finding enough food.

I need people to understand this. Far too many folks think that if healthcare workers aren’t masking - it means the threat has passed.

And if you ask for help, genuinely and unapologetically, it gives everyone around you 'permission' to do the same. Best bit of advice as a chronic independent I've ever been given.
Another way to put this is that, when you say you're embarrassed/ashamed to ask for help, the implication about everyone else asking for help is not good, no matter if it's that you think you're better than them or you think they should be embarrassed/ashamed, too.
Suggestion for folks asking for mutual aid support (based on years of experience):
There's no need to say you're embarrassed or ashamed or hate to have to ask.
That's exactly how capitalism wants you to feel. And it wants you to reinforce the idea that asking for help is shameful.

If you're not getting why this is specifically so ghoulish: TANF is designed to provide resources so families can KEEP their children and take care of them, and these states are redirecting that funding to coerce these parents into choosing adoption. Even states like AZ, ME, and NH do this. 🥚
Since I've gained some new followers, let's keep going with #NAAM facts. Did you know that ten states use TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) money for "Alternatives to Abortion" programs, including campaigns to promote adoption, rather than food and housing for families in poverty? 🥚
