Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Ian Austin, an Army veteran, was arrested for protesting ICE in Minneapolis. But he’s continued protesting. Senior reporter @julialurie.bsky.social spoke to him.

“When they say, ‘Why would you be out here?’ How the fuck could I not be out here?” he says. “My nation is under attack."

Liam himself is five goddamned years old and should be at home with an adult he trusts right now no matter who his parents are. It would not matter if they were literal criminal masterminds, Liam Ramos is a baby and babies do not belong in prison.
Reminder that, as of the latest reports, Liam Ramos is still in prison in Texas - now for 5 days.

His parents are legal asylum seekers with no criminal record.

Yes and nobody who voted for him likes skyrocketing healthcare costs or inflation or Greenland or tarrifs or Venezuela or billionaire grifting either - but a terrible lot of them gave all of this national and international self harm a pass til they started shooting white people dead in the street.
Trump's approval is cratering as America doesn't want what it's seeing and did not vote for what it's seeing (I know, I know, but this is not what many thought they were voting for).

And it's ICE, DHS, Noem, Miller and the violence and chaos they have unleashed that is driving it all down.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Bovino was not just following orders but he’s no rogue - like everyone in this murderous lawless admin he must be held totally responsible for his words and deeds & that should not get any higher ups off the hook but have the opposite effect. He served as he was let go: at the president’s pleasure.
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

They didn’t send his body to the El Paso County ME who just classified another “suicide” at that camp a homicide. They sent him to an army medical center.

If you knowingly spread this lie, you're scared & desperate. Because We the People are pushing back.
