With millions of Bangladeshis active online, platforms such as Facebook and TikTok play an increasingly important role in shaping political awareness. Digital campaigning is no longer peripheral; it has become central to how political messages are delivered and received.
The social media battlefield: Political campaigns in Bangladesh’s national elections
Bangladeshi political parties compete for Gen Z’s attention with viral content, while battling misinformation alongside street campaigning, as Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube become central arenas for political messaging and debate.

If you can, donate to immigration defense funds. They’ve been at it the longest and have the least resources.

The short story of the 21st century in the United States is that out of malice or cowardice or some combination of both, every presidency contributed to building and expanding a federal secret police of goons and thugs, despite clear warning and obvious abuses, until we got to this point.
This is the second account - the first being in Chicago - of DHS agents mass detaining people and then *sorting them by race*.
More than 400 people, including hundreds of citizens, were “sorted” at gun point into racial and ethnic groups by 200 ICE agents who fired flash-bang grenades into cars with people inside, pointed guns at children & demanded their zip tied parents not comfort them. apple.news/Ausdx6kWtT0e...

It's also a testament to the reality that there is no such thing as clean coal.

And honestly the shit that incited this? Wasn't about writers. It was about the performing arts, and to a certain extent material artists who need gallery shows to sell their original work. Income in the performing arts TANKED during the initial phases of Covid, especially the lockdowns.

There's that. But I want to note that the Basic Income for the Arts is essentially a lottery for 2000 eligible people, amounting to a grant of €16,900 per year, and it is available for three years. It is less yearly funding than the Govt of Ireland scholarship for postgraduate researchers.
This is wonderful.

Thinking it wouldn’t be necessary if artists could still profit commercially from the success of our work.

But multi billion dollar corporations decided they’d like it all for free, thanks, to offer to the public for almost nothing.

Irish taxpayers will now subsidise that.
Ireland: a proper country.

The lucky loonie tradition can be traced back to the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, where a Loonie embedded at centre ice apparently brought luck to Canada’s men’s and women’s hockey teams.

This is incredible. Like the previous few years, near all of the electricity capacity added to the grid was clean energy. The Inflation Reduction Act helped this - it made solar & wind cheaper but it also for the first time had a standalone incentive for grid storage. Look at the growth in storage!
Final EIA-860 is out, and 2025 really did it: 54 GW of new U.S. electric capacity, 96% clean. Solar again carries the offense, and we built more storage in 2025 than the cumulative total through 2023. More and more and more additions... but also record low retirements.
