It's honestly just funny that the first half of my life was spent listening to politicians bitch incessantly about the deficit and the national debt

And now it's "YOLO more Gestapo"

Isn't it amazing that if we, for years, had applied even half of this level of budget to actually having a well staffed, well resourced, immigration system (careful and far more rapid consideration of asylum, effective chasing down of the truly "worst", etc.) we'd be in a far better world today.

Call your
Electeds and scream.
After a string of ICE murders, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries proposed reforms — and $11 billion more for ICE.

Including reconciliation bill funding, the Schumer-Jeffries plan would give ICE a $30 billion budget, higher than all but 15 militaries worldwide:

Another resistance quilt finished this week. The eye is my own design, the letters are a fpp pattern by QuiltByNight, the rounded corners and black binding are meant to resemble the phones we the people are using to document the horrors and disprove the government’s lies about what they are doing.

On Feb. 19, 1942, FDR’s Executive Order 9066 led to the incarceration of nearly 127,000 Japanese Americans without charges or evidence of disloyalty.

One of their granddaughters researches this sad history – and writes about the objects they created in camps to help them endure.
Held captive in their own country during World War II, Japanese Americans used nature to cope with their unjustified imprisonment
Incarcerated in rough barracks surrounded by barbed wire and armed soldiers, Japanese Americans made functional and beautiful items to ease their suffering.

One of the many things I loved about the Bad Bunny love letter to PR was this moment right here. This image. All of these hands reaching up to catch him.

What I saw in this moment: Bad Bunny said to his people… I got you. And you know what his people said right back? We got you too.

Beautiful.

Another classic post-Homan day where around school dismissal time we get a flurry of ICE vehicles all across our neighborhoods. Today one vehicle led an observer to their own home and pointed at it. This is a sick game to them, but we won’t be intimidated and we won’t stop until DHS is abolished.

High schools all over New Hampshire have been having walk outs. *New Hampshire* ok? This generation is letting this radicalize them.
in their walkout speech, Nathalie told their classmates,

"We’re being dehumanized and there’s nothing we can really do about it because we’re high schoolers... Not only are our parents being hunted, taken and kidnapped, but it’s also our little siblings being used as bait and then being taken."

Have y'all ever seen starlings, or jays, or house sparrows, mob a larger bird? A crow, or a hawk?

The hawk is larger and could kill any one of the smaller birds easily. But the mob of smaller birds is hard to stop. They harass the larger bird, confuse it, make it difficult for it to sit in peace.

A reminder: there is not a single housing market in America—not one city, state, or county—where someone relying on SSI can afford a one-bedroom apartment.

Deaths like these are always preceded by engineered abandonment. Disproportionate homelessness among people with disabilities is no accident.
High rents outpace federal disability payments, leaving many homeless
Supplemental Security Income, a federal program meant to be a financial floor for people unable to work, hasn't kept pace with inflation. Many recipients are homeless, unable to save for an apartment.

The far-right hates liberalism in part because liberalism empowered women socially, politically, and economically, and so made them less dependent on settling for a mediocre man to provide for them. So they want to destroy liberalism to return women to a state of powerlessness and dependence.

The document is a how-to guide for subjugating girls & young women: a detailed plan to push them out of college, funnel them into early marriage and motherhood, and then trap them there.
