I reported on economics full-time in 2020. It taught me there are no incentives to have a baby in the US. Women in the US have to pay for pre-natal, medical and child care, earn less, do most of the parenting and chores, get promoted less, and are now at 27% higher risk of maternal mortality.

ICE’s hiring process is even worse than expected (hiring ppl who don’t even finish the paperwork, future-dating untaken med clearances, etc.).

Which seems like something Dem candidates should jump on NOW. Like:

“We will claw back bonuses of anyone who should’ve failed their background check.”
A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

Jonathan Ross was a firearms trainer and led a team that included multiple federal agencies. All this training didn't stop him from shooting Renee Nicole Good. His training *facilitated* the shooting.

No amount of training will solve the problem that ICE is a violent ethnic cleansing squad.
Democrats are simultaneously beginning to refer to ICE and CBP agents as "poorly trained."

This message comes from leadership. They're trying to use it as a substitute for dismantling ICE and CBP and imprisoning their current employees. Don't fall for it; don't take any Dem seriously who uses it.

Again, absolutely consistent with decades of right wing politics: *they* have unlimited rights and freedoms, and when you oppose them in pretty much any way, you threaten them intolerably and they are fully justified in meeting that aggression by having the cops smash your face in.
He says that ICE was justified in shooting Good simply because she was (somehow) “impeding” them. So self-defense had nothing to do with it. They can murder you if they feel you’re getting in their way.

The same with “cancel culture” and so on. There’s no hypocrisy or inconsistency there, because the principle at stake has always been *who* is allowed to speak and who must listen, not rights in the abstract.
There’s no inconsistency or hypocrisy there. They never believed everyone had rights or that freedoms are universal. They believe in their own freedom and in their unlimited right to smash fuck out of anyone who impedes or resists them. And this is how it’s been for decades, at least.

"Organizations like ICE or CBP are being dramatically expanded, but find that they must offer large bonuses and lower recruiting standards to find enough employees who won’t have a problem turning guns on their fellow citizens." More training isn’t the solution. Eliminate ICE.
One basic lesson from political research is that secret police generally rely on mediocre men willing to do the dirty work of authoritarian regimes in order to advance their careers.

There is no amount of training that will turn racist secret police into anything other than racist secret police. ICE as an agency is illegitimate, full stop.
Chris Murphy: "The amount of training that's given to an ICE officer has been cut in half by this administration. The number of days of training they get are 47. You know why they get 47 days? As an homage to the vanity of POTUS. No wonder the number of violent incidents are going through the roof."

They truly do not care.
