Hello, friends! After 10(!) years of #AdventOfCode, I've made some changes to preserve my sanity: there will be 12 days of puzzles each December (still starting Dec 1) and there is no longer a global leaderboard. Read more:

Lights out on the 2025 Brewers. Aside from the first four games and the last four games, they were a hell of a lot of fun.

Feels like this about sums up the NLCS: No player in the series has more balls hit 100+ mph than Jackson Chourio and William Contreras. They’re a combined 1 for 8 on those swings, and 0 for 7 on balls in play.

Setting aside K and HR, which we always talk about:

the two teams down 0-2 have these BABIP:

.100 MIL
.137 TOR

two teams up 2-0 have these BABIP

.310 SEA
.294 LAD

that's not all luck, but a little, and a .100 BABIP is no way to live

Jackson Chourio's career extra-base hits spray chart is a thing of odd but profound beauty, innit? Dude can just cause you problems from one foul line to the other, with raw power and with gap power and with the speed after his power. Amazing.

I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing this because it's so incredible

Playoff fastballs this year average 95.8 MPH, up from 92.1 MPH back in 2008.

The *average* heater is basically 96 MPH. Baseball players are wild, man.
