Exactly right.

Bovino's leaving? Great, get Noem to resign.

Noem resigns? Great, defund and dismantle ICE.

Go after Stephen Miller too. Bring charges against ICE thugs at the state and local level. Lawsuits. New state laws restricting them.

Every possible angle.
They are wounded and flailing. Press the advantage.

While glad to see Bovino humbled, I really don’t have any higher opinion of Homan—a cruel, cold, corrupt, calculating bureaucrat who’s devoted more of his career to mass deportation than almost anyone. He’s the architect of child separation.

for me it was the fact that the author is one of the main driving forces behind the global movement to kill my trans friends and erase their existence

hope that helps

Obviously there’s the fact that Rowling is who she is and does what she does. But I think the fact that they had access to the better authors who came up in the wake of Harry Potter is a huge factor. Why would you want a by-the-numbers magic school story when Percy Jackson is out there as well?

Hi have you considered that maybe people have taken objection to the horrible stuff the author says on a daily basis and that she has been doing this for years now

Pretty much everyone on IG who has been carefully quiet about politics is speaking out.

It’s. Weird.

I’m not on there all that much, but I think people have finally been given social permission to say the uncomfortable thing.

I think they realize not speaking up will be read as acceptance.

These articles have a place if they’re “wow was I wrong, here’s the ways I was wrong and the failure modes I engaged in, and I’m sorry”. They don’t work if they are “everyone was hysterical for now reason, but now I deem it fascism, it’s time to get worried, you’re welcome”.
until recently, i was a dumbass. but no longer.

In an increasingly concerning time, this is excellent. Lisa Gilroy continues to be a queen.
Maybe you would enjoy seeing this photo of “Little” Alex Horne in short shorts (acquired off-the-rack by Lisa Gilroy) that I swear say “Greg’s Lil Slut” on the back.

As a matter of practical reality, the idea that the minute Trump invokes the Insurrection Act all resistance is futile, Trump has won, Game Over is nonsense. That’s just regime propaganda. Let us not perpetuate it. Make them earn every inch of creeping authoritarianism.

People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.

CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

This is from the NYT masthead editorial about the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. The highlighted line invalidates not just the editorial, but the very idea of newspaper editorials crafted by the consensus of a board. Better to publish nothing at all than to publish a line like this.

Seriously, folks, people did NOT vote for murder on the streets. A majority of those who voted went for Trump, and to win power, those against Trump will have to win many of them over, not reject them all as people who want fascism.

in light of today's events, i want to share a story i was told during a study abroad summer in italy, where i took a class on the rise of fascism.

the picture below is the site of a mass grave. captive partisans were brought here by nazis, forced to dig, and then executed on the spot.

whether by nature or nurture, there is a class of people who will always prefer death and destruction over a reduction in profits. they cannot be reasoned with. they cannot be taught empathy. they will watch young people shot, dismembered, and buried alive, and they will say that god is good.

Thing is, i wouldn't even call them cops since they're hiding their identities and openly defying the legal system, this is legit militia shit.
it goes without saying but just in case it's not obvious, what ICE is doing now in MN is what regular cops have been doing for years to Black and brown civilians with impunity, it's just never been as concentrated and televised; this is just to say, it's not new and it's not un-american
