Speaking ill of the dead is controversial, particularly when it was a violent death. It’s edgy; it’s sensitive; best avoided in most cases, etc.

Baselessly making another person’s murder *about yourself,* and then approving of it, is a different thing. That is delusional, narcissistic, sociopathic.

Elon Musk is not only an immigrant, his brother spilled the tea that Elon was in the US illegally.

And as this tweet shows, he is also a dipshit with absolutely no self-awareness.

Reading @jbf1755.bsky.social's marvelous book--which I highly recommend--and I'm struck by the similarity of the first half of the 19th c to the present climate. Also wondering why we don't refer to Republican Doughfaces and celebrate J Q Adams as a total badass!? #booksky

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

And every time Ross Douthat publishes another smarmy scold-screed, it’s one more shart on the road to full editorial incontinence for the #NYTimes.
The New York Times quickly sending out Douthat to argue that Mamdani’s victory doesn’t really matter is so predictable it borders on self-parody.

Remember, folks: Every time the Right wins an election, it’s an undeniable expression of the will of the people. If a lefty wins, it’s just a blip.

JD Vance: "When settlers came to the new world they found widespread child sacrifice. If you go to historical sites where there are brothels and you dig up the bones of women, you will find a lot of children buried with them. Christian civilization ended the practice of child sacrifice."

People characterize Caitlin Flanagan's work as "smart," by which they often mean "wrong with a snarky flair." Haven't read this yet, but I will say that Sally Jenkins overlooks the thudding, repetitive contradiction of #BariWeiss 's work. "I was kicked out of book club [choose your personal... 1/
