the thing about extreme content in video games is that the most appalling taboo porn game on the internet is still more artstically valid and has more reason to exist than Roblox

someone should do this to certain figures in indie gaming as well.
Just learned that Tommy Tallarico is now quietly starting to go by the name Sammy Salazar, and honestly, has anyone ever done a number on someone on the scale hbomb did on this dude? just legendary

Found out game development was an option, fell behind with pointers and recursion in programming, had fun making sound effects.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

The amount of people I know who have been laid off from games industry jobs and are deciding to leave games entirely as a result is not only extremely saddening (of course), but also genuinely scary. We have lost legitimately thousands of years of knowledge and experience in the last four years.

This really is all I say, either. Don’t try to replicate my journey, just put work out there for people to see when they go looking.
the only advice I'll give to people about how to "make it" is that you need something to show people if the opportunity comes. it doesn't matter if no one on social media saw it; that's still your body of work and it's a way better portfolio than just saying "I want to someday"

If you already own Broken Spectre, then you only have to update your game to get the Director's Cut version!

Take a look at these before and after shots after the update. 😍

If you're going to brag about being worker owned and criticize valnet for how it runs polygon and then turn around and launder the reputation of one of the industry's most abusive frauds, you should probably go ahead and step down. And apologize. And never work as a reporter in games again

thinking a lot about that guy who we kicked out of Mischief. He wanted us to become a dev that shit out tons of small games based on my internal pitches by exploiting contract workers "so we make all the money"

then he said he wanted to become a publisher, and it was basically this
Look, it’s really straightforward to get a publisher as a new name indie in 2025. Simply do 95% of the work making and marketing your game, and if your metrics are trending towards almost certain success, a publisher will swoop in to promise the remaining 5%, deliver 3%, and collect 75%

The shorter games with worse graphics made by less people discourse is starting again and the nuance lost in this conversation is: we absolutely CAN make big, hyper-realistic games, sustainably. The problem -- and the money drain -- is executive pay, leadership overreach, mismanagement, and whims.

Yup, agree completely

I personally hate the "shorter games with worse graphics" meme because it misunderstands the problem.

We can have bigger games with better graphics if we just get rid of the shareholders.

The problem isn't game design; its late stage capitalism.

Games being big isn't why we're overworked.
The ever-popular "shorter games with worse graphics" meme feels more accurate every year, after costly, trend-chasing failures like Concord and the long dev cycles for series like Final Fantasy, writes @gracemachine.bsky.social. www.endlessmode.com/video-games/...

It's really funny how often my "do not take yourself too seriously in order to avoid becoming one of those losers who insists everyone treats you with deference" policy results in dumb people going "he must be stupid because smart people act like I seen em on the teevee"
