For reference, the average overperformance in 2017 (a year before the last blue wave) was D+10

The average overperformance in 2021 (the last good Republican year/a year before they flipped the House) was R+5

Pretty predictive for midterm elections

Daycare centers were also the primary target of the Satanic panic, because fundamentally American religious conservatism is opposed to women having jobs outside the home.
Trump guys are about to Comet Pizza every third daycare center because they think they are all fronts for Somali money laundering. They're only doing this near cities with progressive mayors. This is straight up Government by LibsOfTikTok.

Israeliboos have never had to actual be persuasive to the public and have mistaken their narrative dominance for 50 years in much of journalism and media to the fact their cause was obviously just and not just that american media/journalism aligns with the American state who likes Israel lol.
Polling suggests Israel is historically unpopular in the demographic corresponding with people likely to have small children, so I need someone smarter than me to explain how picking a fight with Ms. Rachel of all people makes any sense whatsoever. nypost.com/2025/12/26/o...

Sooner than later, small business owners, like farmers, will realize they did better under Biden-Harris than Trump-Vance.

The biggest con job in American politics: Republicans are better for the U.S. economy than Dems.

The past year has been terrifying. Really, the past two—I lost a lot of sleep in 2024 over the promises of the Trump campaign, promises they immediately sought to make good on. But at the end of the first year of his would-be dictatorship, I am calling it: we are going to win.
We Are Going to Win
Trump's revolution will fail, but we still have a long and painful road ahead of us.

The President of the United States appears to be getting regular IV infusions, the public doesn’t know anything about it, & the DC media evidently doesn’t care.

We are months into the mystery of Trump’s hands, the White House is lying, & I’ve seen a grand total of one serious news story about it.
Trump looked pretty rough today -- note that both of his hands are discolored

This settlement is the best case scenario for these applications at this point.

Pushing back matters but real damage still done by illegal actions by the current NIH leadership.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this settlement happen!

For those who actually care about evidence-based city-making, there’s a ton of evidence that decongestion pricing has been a massive success in New York City, by every measure of success, and many ways that can’t be measured.
Year 1 data on congestion pricing in Manhattan…

* Vehicle traffic: -11%
* Foot traffic: +3.4%
* Storefront vacancy: -0.9%
* Pollution: -22%
* Revenue for mass transit: $548M

So YES this has been a huge success.

This must have been answered during the past few months, but is there really no center-left Mainer who wants to be a senator, can run an effective campaign, is younger than 79, wants to end the filibuster and legislate for our democracy, and has not carried around a Nazi tattoo for nearly 20 years?

I say his gently, but…

There’s something unspeakably shameful The United States letting people go hungry.

Not because its government doesn’t fix it —

but because tomorrow a few private Americans could, and never notice the cost.

That’s the part that sits wrong.
