Translation: "If you don't use AI then the guys using our chips can't pretend to make money and can't pay the loans they took out to pay for the original loans they took out for all the money they're not making and it all falls apart and we can't sell chips to fuel the money they're not making."

Did you even ask the elephant if it wanted to be addressed? Can an elephant not simply exist in a room without The Man making demands of it

OK. Elementary has gotten better. It was pretty good. For a while, it's been pretty darn good. And now that he's settled into the role, I think the Sherlock performance is also great.

Holmes lives in this fun space where every decent adaptation adds to the larger character.

The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

Just a reminder that I wrote a book and you absolutely should not read it if you hate chonky first books of multi-volume fantasy series with ornate and byzantine world-building with mostly Asian/Global-South coded characters.
An epic revisitation of the myth of Cupid and Psyche as seen through the eyes of a memory-wiped storytelling mermaid-siren living in a house-share with an automaton-building Javanese engineer with a traumatic past. 🧜‍♀️

i love how the gov’t is spying on every aspect of our lives 24/7 but when you have to ask them for anything they’re like “we’ve never heard of you?? in fact some of the guys in our office think you might be simply some sort of trick of the light?? à la Pepper’s Ghost? fax us 8 years of tax returns”

"It is against the TOS to be talked into suicide by our LLM" is possibly the most evil tech bro thing I've ever read
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

I love the idea of there just being a corpse stand at the market where necromancers can study the dead bodies for sale.

Wait, now I want to write a short story about someone who signs a contract to sell his body to one of these stands and has to stay in shape or they'll take his money back.
One of our players just got demi-plane, and the very first thing he did was stuff it with the badass corpses of our defeated foes so we can sell them to our local necromancer later.

Everything is loot if you keep a flexible mind! #DnD

Hey. I don't know about y'all. But when I say "Universal" I mean UNIVERSAL.
I don't care whether or not a kids parents can pay for school lunch, just give them access to food if they want or need it.
Period.
Same for healthcare, housing, clean water etc.

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

Hey everyone. Hate that I have to post this. My dog was hit by a car tonight and suffered a shattered leg and damage to her intestines. Surgery and medical expenses are roughly $20,000. It’s been a rough year and anything helps.

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

Californians are buying ice scrapers at Home Depot, then immediately returning them....bogging down the entire store, until Home Depot refuses to allow ICE to loiter at their location to detain innocent people.

Winter is coming. Scrape ICE.

Binging Elementary to straighten out my sleep schedule to return to work.

Good show. Good Sherlock. Great Watson. Fun popcorn.

It struck me that Holmes adaptations and zombie stories have something in common. They take place in a world that has never seen them before.

Marjorie Taylor Greene's resigning in time to get a pension is a lesson to everyone.

Most Americans don't get *any* pension anymore, but Congress gave itself a pension after only five years of work.

Our "representatives" aren't working for us, they are [barely] working for themselves.
