“Even progressive pronatalism risks ratifying the notion that women’s most important contribution to solving major social problems is to birth and raise children.”
The right likes the birth rate panic because it helps them do more misogyny. But they also like it because it tricks democrats into re-framing good progressive social policies as solutions to a problem they probably won't solve. (Partially because it doesn't exist.) newrepublic.com/article/2040...
What If Both Sides in the Birth Rate Debate Are Wrong?
The right wants to steer women away from work and toward motherhood. The left wants to provide them with more state support so it’s easier to have children. We should refuse this choice.

They showed up and dominated the comprehensive plan process flooding the planners with cries to go bigger. So many showed up they didn’t have seats for everyone. The mayor and his staff ignored them and lied on the outreach to water it down. Turns out that was an unelectable strategy.
This is a great speech by @mayorofseattle.bsky.social Harrell. He identified that a huge number of new young voters showed up and made the difference. "Young people are saying they do not think their voices are being heard." He encouraged his supporters to embrace new ideas from new leaders.

This is about as sick and cruel as it gets. This policy is in place to stop grocery stores from OVERCHARGING people using SNAP.

The Trump administration, while it illegally withholds SNAP benefits, is telling grocers they can't offer discounts to people on SNAP.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

This really is it. If you live in a metro area with an inelastic housing stock you will see no benefit from low unemployment and higher wages, you'll just see higher housing prices. No progressive economic project can work until housing is fixed.
I am stubborn I still think Bidenomics was correct and it worked! People experienced lifestyle creep and depression, and/or lived in NYC where housing costs genuinely got untethered for completely separate reasons!
