One explanation for economic populism in the US is the recurring cycle of bubbles and bailouts that happens without any democratic input

As someone who drinks occasionally but rarely, it is so incredibly important to me to never put someone in this situation, even if they normally DO drink!
Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Being pro-drowning of children seems like a real are-we-the-baddies moment www.npr.org/sections/sho...
Drowning prevention program comes to a halt at the CDC
A few years in, a CDC drowning prevention program was ready to share its findings on how to mitigate the leading cause of death among young children. Then the administration terminated that staff.

Florida bans "The Diary of Anne Frank" in school libraries. Whoever made this decision should have to eat every page of that amazing book, page by page.

I think we have to admit that one reason there's no "liberal Joe Rogan" is that anyone on the left who actually starts acting a little wild, drawing a little attention, making a little fuss ... immediately draws shitloads of criticism & scolding from other people on the left.

The clearest picture of corporate greed in this country is CEO-to-worker pay ratios.

At the 100 lowest-paying major US companies, CEO pay averaged $17.2M in 2024.

Median worker pay at these companies was just $35,570.

That’s a ratio of 632 to 1.

How can anyone defend this?

Wages of unionized workers are 13% higher than their nonunion counterparts.

But unions also set a higher pay standard that all workers enjoy.

In high-union-density states, median household income is $12,000 higher than in low-union-density states.

This is why unions are vital.

If you’re trying to make it harder for people to vote, stop pretending to give a shit about democracy.

Every American - regardless of their political views - deserves to have their voice heard.
