According to Hermosillo, he was visiting his girlfriend's family in Tucson from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Several hours before his arrest, Hermosillo was transported to a hospital in Tucson by ambulance after suffering from a seizure. He has a New Mexico state ID, but did not take it with him during the medical emergency.
After being released from the hospital following treatment, Hermosillo did not know how to return to where he was staying.
He approached the Border Patrol officer because he was looking for someone to help him. "I saw a car, and I askled] him for help," Hermosillo said. "New Mexico." The officer then accused Hermosillo of lying. "Don't make me lout] like [I'm] stupid," the officer said. "I know you're from Mexico." After that, Hermosillo said, he was arrested.
Hermosillo said that he never told the officer that he was born in Mexico, was a citizen of Mexico, or entered the country illegally. And he would not have said those things because they are not true. He signed the transcript released by DHS because the officer ordered him to "sign everything." But Hermosillo did not read it, because he cannot read.
According to Hermosillo's girlfriend, Grace Hernandez, Hermosillo has learning disabilities and can only write his name.

My 9yo has been working on this jumping spider. So proud of him, he is going to make amazingly creative and great things. But also feeling sad that the provincial government where we live does not value the arts, or the sciences, or nature. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

My 4 year old slept at his grandparent’s house last night, and opened his LEGO Star Wars advent calendar this morning but was told that he should wait to open the packet with me like we do every morning.
So, instead of opening it, he just built it himself inside the packet. I love his little brain.

The echo chamber thing has been pissing me off. I don’t use social media to get a nuanced perspective on the news (that’s what news apps are for?), I use it to socialize. I shouldn’t have to socialize with folks who threaten or attack me.

Anyway, it's not an echo chamber, it's a neighborhood cookout in my backyard. Everyone's invited and welcome, but the second you act like a shithead to me or our neighbors, I throw you over the fence into the gully.

Calling on the Brooklyn parenting hivemind, lost lovey! We lost my son's "blue kitty" yesterday somewhere between the Parkside station and our cousin's house in Windsor Terrace (we walked through the Parade Ground). His mom made it for him when he was an infant, we're devastated. Anyone seen it?
