On this week's @bust_magazine blog: Indiana docs don’t have to report abortions to a government fantasizing about arresting them, and a “pro-life” org threatened lawmakers to vote NO on LIFE-SAVING care. Plus! The FDA Commissioner is punting his “review” of mifepristone until after the midterms.

“I was with you, until you said ‘pregnant people.’”

I get this a lot. I’m an abortion provider, and the CEO and President of an org known for abortion advocacy. Let’s talk about why I use inclusive language — and why I’m not stopping. 🧵

ACECO is the name on the heavy machinery visible in the pictures.
I just called ACECO & left a furious message: 301-588-0707

Then I sent this email via their contact page

(If you do either, remember not to say or write anything that could win you a call from law enforcement.)

Abortion is health care, but it can also be an act of hope or a prayer or a wish or a Hail Mary for the lives patients want to protect or build or keep imagining. Some people don’t want to be pregnant, they have an abortion, they go on to lead the lives they imagined. Abortion is worth celebrating.

Listening to @tressiemcphd.bsky.social on the Opinions podcast and my question as a North Carolinian is how do we bridge the gap between the representation we clearly want in a municipal election and what is allowed by the more conservative state laws an policy?

It’s interesting to see a writer list “the worst things” a man has done, and it’s truly a list of horrors, and then blithely say that still, we must get along. You can only do that when you aren’t in anyone’s political crosshairs. Must be nice.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

US home prices have greatly outpaced incomes: in 2024, the price-to-income ratio hit 5, well above the ratio of 3 that has traditionally been considered affordable. As prices rose, existing home sales dropped to a 30-year low.

The new GOP tax bill gives the richest Americans (making over $4.3 million) an average tax cut of over $389k—while working families earning $17k-$51k will lose $700 a year on average. It’s a slap in the face to hardworking families who need tax relief the most.
