it's not enough that they are the unelected rulers of the United States. It's not enough that there is a real chance they will make a decision here that no coherent legal theory could support. It's that they will then go to private donor events and whine that people are being too mean to them
looking forward to either a 6-3 decision that trump as God Emperor of the United States can change the constitution by fiat or a 5-4 decision that 14th amendment means what it says with a dissent from thomas that actually the constitution recognizes donald j. trump as sovereign

I hear a prof. explaining the premise of "The Princess Bride" to a student, and it WOULD make me feel very old—except I remember when I bought this sweater (likely student age +2) yrs ago, and my back hurts from sleeping, so a 38-year-old movie is at most #3 on the list of things making me feel old.

Hitler was bad.

An essay that, you know, I didn’t think I’d need to write.
Perry: The pro-Hitler problem with the American right
"We need to get back to the basics: Hitler was bad. The people who suggest otherwise are also bad," David M. Perry writes.

Democrats say Donald Trump molests children. As president, he's been far more likely to starve or deport them. Two Pinocchios.

Zohran Mamdani polled +40% on men under 30. So we wasted all that time on all those think pieces about how we need a Joe Rogan for the left, when what we actually needed were *policies* for the left.

Sooner or later, someone is going to respond to one of these ICE goons by returning the violence and it's not going to end well -- not for the goon, not for the victim, not for any of us.

Johnson’s refusal to seat Grijalva feels like a foreshadowing of this GOP plan to stay in power post-2026 regardless of the outcome of the election. This thread is about a well connected Oregon MAGA activist who just podcasted it out.
Two big GOP activists from Oregon were in DC last month for meetings with Trump admin officials. On their podcast they talk about a plan they discussed to nullify the results of Oregon's 2026 federal elections. Pass federal voter ID law, then refuse to seat OR delegation because OR didn't comply.

This is everything America needs right now (besides a functioning constitution).
I am so flabbergasted & tearful & grateful & JUST REALLY EMOTIONAL over everything that’s happened around this so-special pup since this saga started on…good god, how was it only Wednesday morning?

That it has meant as much to so many of you fills me up to the brim.

Focus on the Nov 2025 elections where there will be 52k races nationwide & turn out is key. 2nd, vote for pro democracy candidates that will shape the 2026/28 elections! Key elections are in CA, ME, NJ, PA & VA! #Elections2025

Trump's lackey Mike Johnson is using his control over the calendar to prolong the shutdown and also to neutralize the legislative branch entirely and indefinitely, because seating Rep. Grijalva would change the math enough to allow actual oversight of the president.

I am completely awestruck by the ease with which Mike Johnson lies on a daily basis. I'll never understand how such a transparently fraudulent "man of faith" can live with themselves. Life is too short to be that phony.

the president has destroyed the east wing of the white house without so much as a word of input from anyone else to build a royal ballroom paid for with bribes
NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.

John Bolton should be in prison for war crimes. But that he's being indicted for mishandling classified information just to appease a petty man who once filled a spare bathroom with stolen top-secret files and allowed DOGE to download the whole government is an appalling blight on the rule of law.

Probably the most important thread going right now
Trump's mechanism to pay the troops during the shutdown is by far the most illegal budgetary action he's taken as POTUS, potentially setting the stage to break everything.

It's also needless because Congress would easily pass a troop pay bill if Johnson were willing to gavel in.

Long thread.
