it’s absurd that NYT forced him to delete these skeets, which … convey the factual information that Zohran Mamdani is, in fact, a man of South Asian descent who was born and raised in Africa, and that the pseudonymous source of the hacked material is a white supremacist eugenicist.

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

100%, it is so unserious to question if a smart phone or internet-enabled computer is a necessity today. I worked as a tech trainer for our public library system in **2011** funded by a federal broadband access grant and even then you couldn't apply for an entry-level retail job without the internet
as a grantwriter working on digital equity since 2017 - access to technology and affordable internet is broadly considered part of core wraparound services now. you can’t apply for jobs, access gov’t benefits etc without it. ignore online hot takes. people actually doing the work know this
Never take seriously those who ridicule low income people for having a smartphone or laptop.

“If they’re so poor how did they buy an iPhone???”

Because they’re trying to escape poverty, not the 1700s, genius. If you think basic tech access is unnecessary or a luxury, survive a month without it.

My experience working with digitally divided people at the public library is that while they may have a smart phone what they don't have is a computer or a laptop; that device is their only device that they're doing all of their in their Internet-requiring work on. It's a real struggle

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

My goal has been to make Illinois the best state to raise a family — that starts with kids having access to what they need so they can focus on learning and growing.

Illinois was among the first states to implement SUN Bucks, and this year is no exception.

"The Trump administration has suspended foreign aid to Congo and the resettlement of [Congo] refugees ... thus abandoning countless victims of the very same real-life humanitarian catastrophe that he’s cherry-picking imagery from to portray an atrocity against whites that isn’t actually happening.”
Trump used a pic of war deaths in Democratic Republic of Congo to push lie of South African white "genocide."

But it gets worse. He's slashed refugee resettlement from DRC while using corpses from that war as "evidence" of fake atrocities against whites!

This was recognized with the Reagan era, but had not been thoroughly tested until Trump, because before Barack Obama broke white people’s brains, there was an assumption that no major party would nominate a con man with no experience, knowledge, or prior office to run for national office.
